Newb to Aerobatic and 3D planes- Flyfly Groupe Tranchant Yak-54

...and while you're on their site, please make sure to drool over their planes a bit. After all, they deserve it for putting the manuals out there! :)

Newb to Aerobatic and 3D planes- Flyfly Groupe Tranchant Yak-54

Hi Hawk! Good to see you here! Here's a trick I use: Go to the one of the big brands, like 3DHS or EF and peek at their manuals for a similar plane. The procedure for installing servos, motor etc. should be similar. Or just post pictures of what puzzles you. Between the folks on this site...

FAQ I'm new to 3D... where do I start?

IMHO, you want to start with a foamy, because in order to learn, you have to push yourself to and sometimes beyond the point where a crash becomes likely. A foamy you can pick up and fly right after in 9 cases out of 10. A balsa plane, not so much.

    My new 72" 3DHS Extra 330

Best of luck! Give us a report. Also, I'd be interested in knowing exactly what you put in her. I'm thinking of getting into the 70" segment myself and I definitely want to try gas power and I'm looking for as much information as I can.

    3DHS Planes Picture Thread

Cute! Are those sparkles/glitter? My 5-year-old daughter once emptied a full tube on that on everything in our kitchen, so I have mixed feeling about it! :)

So how does the B-series differ from the regular ZTWs?

    EF 48" Laser EXP

Today I completed durability testing of my Laser and here are the results: I pulled out "a little" late from a spin and pretty much nosed it right in. It looked really bad and I was prepared for carnage. But no! The only damage was a broken prop. I popped on a new one and continued flying...

    The Bonehead Files

Ok, I'll go first: I had a playdate with AeroHeadTW (you should introduce yourself, BTW) this morning and we were chatting while I swapped batteries in my plane to get ready for the next flight. As soon as I took off, I noticed I had really bad power. Of course I had pulled the classic bonehead...

    The Bonehead Files

The concept is pretty simple: Post your favorite bonehead moves so we can all laugh at them together or maybe even learn something. Sort of in the same spirit as ATTF's "The Dumbest Thing I Did". Let the stupidity flow!

A few years ago, I was driving through rural VA and parts of WV and I stopped at a gas station somewhere in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere, and... let me tell you, the people hanging out there actually looked like that! A bit scary for a nice Swedish boy!

The image results when you google "team hillbilly" are deeply fascinating! (That's actually taken by a very famous photographer who's name I can't remember right now...)

    3D Hobby Shop 47" Extra 300shp

I'm using a 2" EF spinner with my Xoar 14x6. I also have a bunch of HobbyKing 51mm spinners on various planes with 13-14" props and they work great too. In fact, I think they're identical to the EF spinners.

I have the impression that these 3D-capable kits are pretty old designs and don't come close to today's ARFs. I'm not really basing that opinion on a lot of facts, so I'd love to be proven wrong! But that was the reason that IF I end up building something, I'd go for more of a sport model than...
