    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

Awesome! I have an 11 year old Comp Arf Extra. Take care of them and they last forever. Other than the rudder and elevator hinges, they wear, but it's an easy fix. One of the guys here, Mike, just sold one in that scheme. He had a Moki 250 in his for awhile.

    Sunday night GSN Update

I agree, but it makes it pretty well unusable on my phone. Thankfully I don't use my phone for GSN very often.

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I finished the masking on the cowl tonight. Now that I can see it all I think the size of the checkers will be okay. It will be black tomorrow.

    Sunday night GSN Update

I'm getting a bunch non airplane related ads popping up that were never here before. Is that the shape of things to come? Or is it just my luck?

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

Saturday I put a light coat of primer on the hatch after fixing one small spot where I sanded through the glass and resin and hit wood. It was a tiny spot so I hit it with thin CA on my finger, then sanded it smooth after it hardened. I also sprayed the white on the cowl. That night I hit the...

Frank Tiano, Candidate for AMA President

Now that I have no problem at all believing. It's just like small town politics, if you tick someone off they go out of their way to make your life miserable.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I got out to the field yesterday afternoon. I'm normally a morning guy, but my partner in crime Tony had to help his wife with a yard sale in the morning so afternoon it was. It looked like we were going to get rained on just as we got our planes together and fueled, but it all blew over and...

I am not anti drone either. As a matter of fact I think drone racing is cool. We had a good one last year at our field and had awesome turnout and the club made money. I don't own one and most likely never will, airplanes and heli's are enough for me. That being said, the FAA didn't have it's...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I've never used Nason basecoat. I've used a lot of their other products. Their epoxy primer, 2k primer, clear and other thing including their single stage color. I've had good luck with all of it.

@Pistolera The best I can offer right now is links to the product pages for Chromabase and Nason basecoat. On each page you'll see where it says "Product Details" and "Packaging information" and others, click the one that says TDS. That is the link for PDF'S of the technical data sheets for the...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I had that happen a few weeks ago while I was taking my airplane apart to go home, it was nasty hot and humid and I started getting kinda dizzy and had to sit down. It's reasonably nice here this weekend, only around 90.

Both DuPont (Actually Axalta now), and PPG list a 24 hour window for recoating their basecoats. Spies Hecker does not give a limit on the time unless you used a hardener in the base, which there is no reason to do on a model. Now, in the real world, I have fudged that 24 hours many times, and...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

That was the thing about the Carf Extra I talked about in the previous post. I lost the exact same amount of weight on the stab tube as I did on the wing, 1.2oz. The great thing about that is it was 4 to 1 on how much weight I could take out of the nose. So, I lost almost 6 total ounces changing...
