    Glassing and Painting techniques

There really isn't any reason to add flex agent to base colors. They are so low in mil thickness that they don't usually crack. You can add it to clear if you wish, but there is some thought that flex agent may dry out after a time in some paints anyway, so unless your doing an open ribbed...

When it comes to activators I always use the slowest one no matter the temperature, unless there is some particular reason I want something to dry really fast, or it's a really small area like a side mirror.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's if you wanted to paint something and have it last forever you used PPG DP40 Epoxy Primer and DuPont Imron paint. When I worked for my father in those days we had all the work from the Illinois Power Company in our area. I used a lot of of DP40 and orange...

If your using Nason 2 part primers, you can also reduce them to make them lay a little smoother. I don't have the number for the reducer in front of me, but I can post it later.

I use the 19301 Blender all the time. It will thin the clear and works great on airplanes. I would be careful how much you use and how heavily you lay it on, because it's made to melt into the finish your blending. You shouldn't have any issues with it over new paint. And like Terry said, 2...

If your using an automotive basecoat, clearcoat system, then there is no need to sand between color coats unless you see an issue. You never want to clear over sanded basecoat, it does ugly things sometimes. A good tip for finding pinholes is to take a powerful beam flashlight and shine it...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I made a little addition to my wing tips today. I added a rib section to the front of each tip to make the covering lay smoother. I considered doing it at a 45 like I did on the elevators, but decided just to make it straight. I think it's going to work out well. I've put off covering these...

At least you can laugh about it.;) And since I've made a move or two like that in my life I couldn't resit posting this.

It's a Carf composite airplane. It comes pre-painted and lettered. The pictures are from Carf"s ad.

    Awesome Video Thread

This is video is almost an hour and fifteen minutes long, but it's pretty cool if you like Spitfires. A warning though the guy Guy, is almost impossible to understand.;)

It's cool to see someone take something like that and fly it like he stole it!

He wants it it be gloss black to match the scheme so paint it is. I'm sure the price of a 5" Tru-Turn with a lightened back plate that's cut for a three blade is just north of ridiculous. ;)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Today I work on some things for a friend's new Carf 35% Extra 330SC. I'm painting the gear, some exhaust extentions, and a new Tru-Turn spinner. Putting a piece of sandpaper to a new Tru-Turn is hard to do.;) The gear needed a fair amount of work to get rid of the pinholes. I've got everything...

That doesn't sound right. From what I can tell from PPG's website DMC toners are still available. You should be able to make those.
