Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Very discouraged with the Jtec/Radiowave Pitts today. I've accomplished nothing today as I've been trying to decide what my next move needs to be. At this point, the manual is basically useless. At this point I am supposed to be installing the hardwood blocks that tie the outer wing panels to...

Yup...those be the ones. (Second photo) I first considered the wingtips like the one in this photo. But they just don't do anything for me. Yes I am looking for a little insight and everyone has been so awesome with their help, suggestions and over all coaching. I have to be honest, I guess I...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Hey everyone... another day of building on the Jtec Pitts. I was hoping to get it all framed up by Sunday, but I highly doubt that is going to happen. I ran into too many setbacks and "snafus" today. After removing the bottom right wing from the jig, I started on the upper right and center...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Time for a little update. I finished up the top side of the bottom left wing last night. Then removed it from the jig. Double checked all my glue joints and test fit to the fuse. Today, I framed up the bottom right wing to the same level as the left wing. There have been little weird things to...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Quad's (4 holers) are the bomb. My sons 222 is freaking amazing. I'm seriously considering a new 40%'er for spring. Although I've had many 3w twins and a 3w 212, a guy just can't beat the price for a 222. And oh so correct. Pure music!

If you've not run a 222, you're in for an awesome experience. Phenomenal engine.

Not entirely accurate. The RCEXL Opto-Kill only does what they are told to do. They recieve the "on" and "off" signal from your reciever. There is no failsafe per sey, just has to have "on" power signal to allow voltage to be passed to the ignition module. And fact be known, they do not need an...

Sorry everyone. I have to correct myself. I mentioned this is the bottom right wing. I just know Doug and Sam and Brett and Van and David and....well probably everyone caught it right? Actually it is the bottom left wing. LOL.

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

I did get started on the bottom right wing today. After a few drawbacks and a few phone calls, I finally got it figured out. There is one piece, (BR1B) that is inaccurately cut for the location it goes in. It turns out it is a doubler for the BR1 rib. So it had to be modified to fit correctly...

On this plane, the yellow actually looks pretty good. I had a Yellow Dave Patrick 330 with a DLE 55 on it a few years back. Though terribly heavy, the plane flew really well. I was actually thinking about maybe using that scheme but changing up the colors. Maybe say, White where in place of the...

I've been finding a lot of really good photos from 2wings.com to reference while building this Pitts. The one that has really helped tremendously is N212BW now registered as N12HV. http://www.2wings.com/m12/images/n212bw/n212bw.htm Especially the cockpit and canopy area, the photos of the tail...

I did decide after all to get the cabane struts mounted on the Pitts tonight. I don't know why I put it off for so long. It turned out to be a fairly easy task. And actually according to the manual, this step is done "after" the wings are built. I really didn't see the difference of when they...

Umm....Mark!!! I thought I told you standing too close to your exhaust pipes will cause temporary memory loss combined with delusions of grandeur. I thought I made it quite clear who would be the proud owner of this awesome plane.

Initial shaping and sanding done. Looks pretty good. I do have some touch ups to do yet, but otherwise I am satisfied. Got the cabane plates epoxied and all joints a final go through. Some needed a drop or two of CA. Most were good to go. I feel confident the fuse will be plenty strong. Not...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

A little more accomplished today on the Pitts. The right side turtle deck sheeting went much quicker than the left side. After figuring out how to proceed, it went pretty smoothly. I will let the wet balsa dry and the glue cure before I do any initial sanding. Later I hope to start sheeting the...

    Post'em....Old planes you miss having

Oddly enough, the P51 Mustang was and has always been my all time favorite of any plane ever produced. I dreamt of one day flying...at least one in rc configuration. Hence, Stangflyer I am. But alas, life happened and my three childen were more important than the hobby at the time. I took an...
