    Glassing and Painting techniques

There are a few options for painting open structures. My guess, the lightest of them would be Ultracote and then paint. Many people have done this with good results. I have done some striping in paint on Ultracote and Monocote in the past and painted stripes on the Ultracote on a sheeted wing on...

Big Torque Servos - ProModeler PDRS420BLHV 420oz Brushless servo!

I'm interested to see what everyones opinions are on the ProModeler servos. I'm in the market for some servos for a 35% Edge and these would fit the bill nicely if they perform well. I read another thread here earlier today and guys seem to like them...

    **sticky** Understanding Lithium Polymer Batteries

Something I've heard at the field at least twice about a receiver battery, "I can't understand why it went dead, I charged it a couple of weeks ago and only flew it a few times". Really! One of the guys at our field that flys a lot of electrics had never seen a battery checker. I was shocked...

Airplane Cradles in the Shop, What works, what doesn't?

I've heard a selfie stick called a rod of narcissism before, but that gives it a whole new meaning.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

No rc related things going on in the workshop tonight, but I did have to fix an electric dryer that had the heating element shorting against the body reeking all kinds of havoc when the drum spun. The glides on the front of the drum were also shot causing a metal on metal rub that was throwing...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

My Friend Tony and I went flying today. It was sunny with almost no wind, but the field was pretty well deserted because of the heat and humidity. There were only three other guys that flew at all and we're a club of 110. One guy managed to takeoff with the ailerons backwards and by pure dumb...

    Pilot 37% 107" Edge 4 Banger

I'm not saying it wont work, but I would be worried that the rear cylinders might not cool well. Is there any way to split it horizontally like this? It seems to work well.

Airplane Cradles in the Shop, What works, what doesn't?

I built this one many years ago. I had seen something similar in magazine ads but had never seen one in real life. It took quite a bit of engineering to build it so the uprights that hold the plane would fold in and out and not need to be removed and still be able to expane for bigger airplanes...

Do not change the 4 to 1 ratio of the Nason primer. Very bad things could result. The hardening is a chemical reaction that depends on the correct ratio to cure.

Since the HV in HVLP stands for High Volume that little compressor must move some air. Pretty neat little system. I'd like to see some info as well.

I dated a girl once that had a calendar in her bedroom titled, "100 uses for a dead cat"

That depends on how much is showing. If it's just little dots from pinholes it won't be an issue. Most of the time, unless it's a high metallic color, small spots aren't a big deal. With metallic colors it can leave a dark spot.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

After the thump it made hitting the ground I have to agree. It looks like the torque tube bearing slid all the way back to the tail rotor and judging by the wear marks the torque tube was flailing around pretty good in the tail boom. That couldn't have been good.
