    Happy Independence Day!

I hope everyone had a good day. I celebrated the country's independence at the flying field. A beautiful day again. I'm planning on going tomorrow too. That will make three days in a row!

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

Here are some Bob Violett Sport Sharks. The difference in performance between these and the normal ducted fan of the day was amazing!

    Happy Independence Day!

Almost had a good one yesterday. I just landed my heli and had just stepped out of the pilots box when a twin engine foamie did a pile driver right where I was just standing. I think I would have come out okay being clipped by the foamie, I'm not sure the guy would have survived me crashing my...

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

All the airplanes flown during Striking Back were Byron's as far as I know. There were a few crashes, but most of the time the Zeros would start smoking and disappear over the bluff like they went in.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

There weren't many flyers at our field today either. The weather was great and the wind was calm as could be. A VERY good day. I hope to go out again tomorrow to make it three days in a row. My knees are telling me not to go, but my mind is insisting I do.

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

I was wrong about the HMS Bounty, it was 1/2 scale not 1/3rd scale.

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

From what I can remember he owned a company called Midwest Industry's. They made boat hoists and boat trailers and things. One thing the pictures don't really show you is that the flying field is in a very nice subdivision. There were several high dollar homes there at the time. It was pretty...

    It's the little things....

Little place right on West Main Street called West Side Hobbies. It was right across from Belleville West High School. I had a connection to the building as well. Before it was West Side Hobbies it was a Kentucky Fried Chicken. Before KFC, it was a restaurant called The Steak Stop owned by my...

His first shop was in East St. Louis. He moved to Belleville after that. The shop in Belleville was one of those places where there was stuff crammed in every corner and used planes hanging everywhere.

I wish I was twelve 25 years ago, but that ship sailed well before that. ;)

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

Here are some warbirds and the really cool big B-29. They had several of the B-25's in the striking back show they flew really well. They were my favorite.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Day one down of a three day weekend of flying. Today was Helicopter day. It was only the second time I had it out this year, and I now have a total of 25 helicopter flights in since I started flying one last fall. I even flew inverted for a bit. I need to do some tweeking on it. It's kind of...

    Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

Yeah it was the place back then if you wanted to see Giant Scale and Ducted Fans. Byron's kits were state of the art back then. Dinosaurs by today's standards, but cool back in the day. Custom retracts, belt reduction four blade prop drives for a Quadra 50. Canister muffler/engine mounts. Some...
