    Cold Weather Flying Tips

Invest in a car with a sunroof. That way, you can poke your head out to fly while the heater is on. :D (don't think I haven't considered it.....)

Throw will be determined by travel, so use the inner holes in the servo arms if you feel you're getting too much throw. By keeping the radio's travel setting as high as possible, you're maximizing the resolution and precision on the stick. I've never had a case of "too much throw." Any throw...

Possibly. If you could afford to drive it that far. :D

Expo makes the servo travel at an exponential rate the farther the stick gets from center. The servo only has so much available travel, so adding expo shifts this movement from around center toward the end of its travel. As said, it doesn't "add" any travel.

I don't think anyone criticized you, but rather the radio. And you fly what you can afford to fly, don't let anyone else's opinion get to you. :)

Oh, I was thinking of that as more of an option or setup difference, but yes, the DX8 will throw a servo WAY farther than a 6.

I flew with one until a few months ago. Maybe I'm not a good enough pilot to tell the difference, but other than gimbal feel and options, I never noticed any bad characteristics/measurable differences from the DX8, in-flight.

I used a DX8 on mine, had a "holy ****" rate, which was every bit of throw I could get without killing the servos, a "high rate" (~45°elevator, 35° aileron), and low rates were about 20° and 15°. Rudder was full throw on all rates, just more expo on low rates.

Glad you're getting it back together, but $235 for a DX6i? Those sell for $100 all day long on RCG classifieds....

I'm actually feeling pretty decent this morning, considering how much high-test beer I took down last night. Irish Car Bombs supplemented the time in between beers. Me and my wife stayed at my brother's house, and he let us have a twin sized bed to sleep on. At some point through the night, my...

I'm using Savöx (1258tg's) in my 72 and my 6HV (1258tg's and a 1290mg in the tail). I am happy with them in those birds, so I'll be happy to hear how their bigger units work.
