    laminated carbon fiber cloth to 1/8 ply then attached it to the 1/4 firewall with, you guessed it, more epoxy and clamps . this provides an extremely strong firewall. I also doweled the holes for engine bolts that I had drilled too low on the firewall.

    New engine box sides epoxied, drilled and doweled. New firewall epoxied on. GP 88 EVO test fit, engine box sides need to be cut for muffler clearance. Refit engine after cutting sides and check muffler clearance.

    Time to start making it look like a Yak again. The F1 was in bad shape so I tied the bottom of the front of the hatch area together with a carbon fiber strip shown in the picture above and made a new 1/8 ply front. More epoxy and clamps.

    The filler will be sanded smooth. The plane was destroyed from the wing tube forward. New 3 layers of 1/4 ply for the landing gear with new wood new braces, and new carbon fiber pins. Epoxy and clamps are my friend. :)

    The wood was crushed from the washers for the hatch bolts and at the rear of the wing pocket from the impact. Epoxy with micro balloons makes a very light, hard and easy to sand filler. Some Vaseline on a hatch bolt then thread it into the blind nut to make sure none gets in the threads.

    Hatch had some damage. Some lightweight filler, some carbon fiber ultra trim, some stickers and a little plastic dude gets that sorted out.

    About three years ago a club member crashed his 33% SD Yak for the second or third time and after looking at the damage he decided he couldn't rebuild it. My son asked for it and he gave it to him. This is how it appeared for a couple of years.
