    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I agree. I have heard that Hostetler is still flying his or at least it is still in flyable condition. I don't know if he did anything other than fly it in a circle though. There are very few of these out there that have been built from what I can tell. I hope that's anyone that builds one in...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I would recommend NOT following the plans for joining the wings and instead use a carbon fiber tube.

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Unfortunately, yes, I can confirm it. The wing joiners failed. It's totally destroyed.

My next project has been decided: 1/4 scale Shrike Commander! I'll post a link when I decide where I am going to do the build thread. Either here, FG, or RCG. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Well folks, I’ve flown it about a dozen times now. The take offs and landings have improved significantly. I’m doing some rolls, loops, hammerheads, and some other basic aerobatic maneuvers. I’m loving every minute of it! The nose gear that Century Jet made for it has come apart multiple times...

Some video from today. I removed 8 oz. of weight from the nose and it flies much better. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Thank you! That's my plan! I'm not going to be shy about flying it, either. I'm going to fly it until it won't fly anymore, which hopefully will be after about a thousand flights. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I don't think anyone got video of the other flights where I did some aileron rolls and a few other things. It is definitely a beast in the air! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

You are so right! Since this is by far the biggest, longest, most expensive build I've ever attempted, I anticipate this will also be the most nerve-wracking maiden flight I've ever had. I have already told myself and others that if it's not feeling right, I'm not going to fly it. Period. What...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I have been working hard helping my son finish his winter build project, but at this point the skymaster is airworthy. There are still a few things that I want to do before I will call it finished, but I can at least fly it for now. A couple of the looming issues we're getting the window latch...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

We have a date designated for all of the winter build projects to be maidened. I promised I would wait until then. Plus, the nose wheel started having issues... Would hate for it to fall off during flight. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

First trip to the flying field today for taxi testing, range check, fail safe testing, and overall evaluation of suitability for flight. Lots of issues with the nose gear. Lots of slop and loose bolts. Tightened one area and another gets loose. Eventually I got it mostly cinched up. One...
