    IMAC 54% G200

Very cool. The Giles is one of my all-time favorites. Wild Hare used to make a really nice one. I'd love to build one someday. My dad actually used to own the full-scale prototype G-300, the only one ever built. It was an amazing airplane. He sold it to a couple, and one of them very...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Despite how it may seem, I've been making some progress lately. I ran balsa stringers along the tail booms and sheeted them using 1/16" balsa. This seemed like a better option than the plans' recommendation to use balsa block. My method required much less sanding. I just hated the pink/purple...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Booms are both framed up and mostly sheeted with wiring installed for the fin beacon and the rudder and elevator servos. Hoping to get the wing center section done soon!

And, in the spirit of doing it the way that I want to do it.... I went ahead and removed all of the purple foam board from the tail booms in favor of using stringers and balsa sheeting. Not sure if there is a significant difference in weight. But, I can tell you that I started and finished the...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Right now, I'm following advice I was given previously to use insulation foam board to fill in the area between the formers and then sand it to the right shape. I am wishing I had just used balsa longerons and thin sheeting instead. The foam is very difficult to work with.

The previous picture was the flap, actually. I decided it was time to get the horizontal stab attached to the booms so I could begin getting the sheeting done, moving from the back forward. It is now permanently installed. I used 30 min epoxy and blue masking tape to help keep things aligned...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I've been slow to post, but I have been making some progress! The second wing half, aileron, and flap are complete. I ran into a bit of a dilemma when shaping the aileron. I made the first one according to the plans and did a standard bevel for the leading edge. However, this is not scale...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Hey Mike, we bought some tiny little motor from HK, not sure the size. Honestly, my kiddo could probably tell you more about it than I can. The servos we chose are a little big but will do. I'll see if I can figure out what everything is.

Left outer wing panel is well underway now with the flap and aileron servos installed and the landing and nav light wiring in place. Sheeting has begun...

Man, I really wish that notifications worked on this site. I don't get any emails or anything letting me know when someone replies, even though I have it turned on! I've sheeted the top of the left wing and will be flipping it over to install the servos for the flap and aileron along with the...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Good news to the one or two people following this thread: construction has resumed! The right wing is pretty close to being done. I had to go back and install the green Nav light in the wingtip and cut out the hatch for the flap servo. I pretty much have that part done but am waiting for...

I may be a better photographer than I am a pilot, as it turns out.

    Let's see your full-scale airplane!

It was an adventure for sure. We drove 8+ hours down to Oakdale California from Eugene Oregon to take possession. The next morning, I had to do five hours with an instructor for insurance purposes. This was the most I had flown in about 12 years!! Then, it was time for the flight home... As...

    Let's see your full-scale airplane!

Well, tomorrow is the big day. I'm going to be traveling to California to take possession of a 1974 Mooney M20c. I have to get some dual time in it before I can go solo, so I'm going to meet up with an instructor Sunday morning, put in a few hours, then fly back home Sunday afternoon. That...

    Let's see your full-scale airplane!

For some reason I did not get any notifications that there were replies after the first couple. GUYS! Your aircraft are AWESOME! I'm looking at picking up my new airplane this coming Saturday. I'll have to put in 5 hours of dual Sunday morning for insurance, then I'll fly it to its home...

    Let's see your full-scale airplane!

Guys, I have had my private pilot certification for over two decades now (got it when I was 17). I used to own a 1977 Cessna 150M. Great little plane, but after putting about 70 hours on it, we grew apart and ultimately ended our relationship, which was especially difficult since it was first...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Turns out I forgot a couple of things. First of all, notice I did the cutout and installation of the aileron servo but not the flap servo. No problem, I can fix that. Then there's the nav light and strobe on the wingtip that I did not pre-wire like I was supposed to...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

After some sanding and installing the leading edge, which still needs to be sanded... WE HAVE LIGHTS!! Now, more importantly, can anyone tell me what I may have forgotten??
