    Help! Aura 8 setup questions

Bounce back is basically just when the gyro overcompensates when you release the stick to stop whatever movement the airplane has. So for example, if you are applying full left aileron at high speed, and release the aileron stick suddenly, the gyro will apply a sharp and quick input of right...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Just giving my measly $0.02 since I know that's about all my opinion is worth, but I've actually had awesome luck using black RTV to make my exhaust gaskets. It's got different properties than the red RTV and holds up a lot better IMO. I've even used the black RTV to plug a smoke nipple hole and...

New here and in this field. NEED HELP!!

Why don't you reverse engineer some of the military UAV's out there? The Heron TP UAV is a design that can easily be replicated and individually stylized to suite your needs. That will basically give you a TON of options for payload capability if you use a large wingspan and big fuselage, and...

Depends on the generator, but most generators assuredly output more than 12 volts ;) The Predator 2000w unit from Harbor Freight is a good solid unit that a lot have been using, I liked the one I had purchased when I was with Hitec. 1800 running watts, the one at our club doesn't have an issue...

Well it's been al ong time since I posted, but I thought I should chime in. Doinked my AJ Aircraft 115" Laser 230Z in about 6 months ago. Broken prop, wingtip, pulled LG block, bent axle, and busted wheel pants were the extend of the damage. I already procured a new set of wings, and just this...

Hi Tiger, To start, you are posting a minefield of questions with NO definitive answers that anybody is going to be able to give you. As an industry professional with 20+ years of hobby experience, I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that if this is the path you are going to drive down...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

The announcement is a threat. It is not law for AMA members yet. Make no mistake, the FAA wants absolutely nothing to do with model airplanes. They understand we've been operating nearly flawlessly since before the existence of the FAA. The FAA is being pushed to do something by the ATO right...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

Hello all, The FAA is currently threatening new regulations, mainly imposing a hard altitude restriction of 400ft. over many clubs. This is a non-negotiable limit if signed into law, meaning you will never be able to get permissions to fly above it, and everybody needs to help make their voice...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

By the way, I should throw this out there for everyone. The Hitec HSB line of servos are the only servo on the planet that was designed and engineered by Americans. The chipset came from an American engineer and the motor is designed by NEU Motors, an American based company.

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

Except that the BlueBird BLS-H51B, when tested in a laboratory with over a dozen different servos, came in dead last with actual torque output at less than 300oz/in. This is a far cry from the supposed 737oz/in claim that it makes, meaning its actual torque output is overstated by almost 60%...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

I want to say the 700 was closer to 450. I don't know what the 1000 model tested to but it wasn't any more impressive.

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

Yes, actually even the 1000 was tested and they both fell rather short of the claims. I know it sounds like I'm just bagging on everyone here but I'm tired of the overstated torque values by every manufacturer- they constantly lie through their teeth at everyone to sell product because (no...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

When I was with the company, I repeatedly asked over and over to have 7.4v rated servos tested to 8.4v and post those specs, but for some reason that was never explained to me, they never were interested in it. What I always told people who were interested in the 8.4v spec was to multiply the...

When I saw stuff like this happening it was usually because the FCC was sue happy and went after the manufacturer real hard. They're probably just trying to cover their rears

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

The more budget friendly option is the D950TW. Several ex-Savox users I';ve talked to have switched from 2290's and 1270's to this servo and have reported a much crisper flying airframe with no odd tendencies. The few 2290 equipped airplanes I've flown all had odd elevator sync issues which...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

@acerc, that is not a measure of torque. Torque is a rotational movement, not a linear movement that a servo arm subjects a control surface to. You cannot test a servos output torque by hooking a servo arm to it and seeing how much force it can pull. If you tried this test with the 9380 (I...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

So the PAD was developed afterwards. A byproduct of the efficient design was a regenerative function where the servo actually returns some of the power it uses (much like how a hybrid car recharges its battery when decelerating). The PAD is an intelligent capacitor that soaks up the excessive...
