The I'm NOT going out flying thread.

I would be maidening my 60 size Uproar today if the wind wasn’t gusting 25 kts.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I ran the Evolution engine this morning for the break in tank. 8 oz tank going from idle to mid throttle for over 45 minutes and the tank still isn't gone. I figured that was long enough to annoy the neighbors on a Saturday morning... mid throttle super rich was pulling about 6500 rpm with the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The Uproar is ready for maiden! It has been slow going since my last post until today. The wife and kids were at school and I had today off. So got the day to myself to finish her up:) The second picture is showing how I made sure the elevator halves were perfectly matched when I glued them on...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Now I have all the covering done that I can until the new roll gets in. I am doing the flame red as the main accent color. I am still debating about what scheme to go with. My wife says polka dots won’t work! Lol. What do you guys think? I would love to do some sort of flames, but I can’t...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Man, the center section of the wing which is glued in the fuselage was a PAIN to cover. I ended up not covering the fuselage/wing joint. To seal it, I will make a clear glue gusset. My skills weren’t good enough to do it with the covering due to the curvature of the wing.

    Cool TAS Freestyle Crashes

Ouch for sure! But those were way more spectacular crashes than the 2015 shootout where the only crashes I saw were when Kim pushed it to the absolute limit until he crashed and the fuselage break during a benign pull out of a loop type maneuver from the Frenchman.

Question? Which brand LiPo battery to buy?

I have used Pulse, Gens Ace, Turnigy (standard blue), Zippos, and Turnigy Nanotechs. Out of those, the only ones I would stay away from are the NanoTechs. It also depends on the application. I am not going to use Turnigy or Zippo batteries in a $4k plane, but I do use them in my 60 size electric...

A slimer?!!?!?!? How dare you! :) The last one I did have (OS 46FX) would start on the first flip with my fingers though! I am hoping this engine will break in and start the same way, but probably not right out of the gate.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I was working on covering the fuselage of the Uproar and found out I don't have enough green apple covering... guess I am delayed for a bit while that ships in. I also ordered an electric starter since I haven't had a need for one of those for about 5 years.

Started covering! I finished the base colors for the wings. I did the bottoms of the ailerons along with the 2 hatches. I installed the servos in the wings as well using stangflyer’s technique for cutting the holes in the covering. That works like a champ to make it all look nice.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I installed the fuel tank, throttle servo, and engine last night. I will start covering it next. Checkerboard for the bottom of the wings and stab, green apple for the fuselage and tops of wings and stab, flame red for accents :)

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Could be. The fellas that brought it are from the Dallas area. The prop they had on that engine RIPPED. Should have had ear plugs in on pretty much every pass. I was flying my ARS with WOT and couldn’t even hear it over that prop noise!

I did get the tail feathers on tonight. Tomorrow, hopefully will at least get the throttle pushrod guide installed and fuel proof the firewall.

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

The fun fly today was a blast! I just brought planes that can handle a wind since we had 15 mph winds all day. I did sneak in one flight on the P-47 before the winds took over bright and early this morning:)

The weather people here were very wrong too... I ended up only getting one flight each in before 15 gust 20 kts of direct crosswind came to stay.
