The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The left wing panel is coming together nicely. This is my first full build with the magnetic building system. Wow, I am impressed at how easy and quick it is to use! All the ribs perfectly vertical with no real effort. Also, this kit is die cut beautifully! Every rib came out perfect and the...

Here is the latest on the Uproar. I finished the elevators, made the fin and rudder also. Now working the ailerons. My friend maidened an Uproar v2 today at the same time I maidened my Ryan. That made me super excited to get this plane finished quickly!

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Maidened the Ryan STA! It has plenty of power. It also doesn’t slow down very quickly. I ended up killing the throttle before doing the final turn at around 30 feet off the ground and still had plenty of energy to float across half the runway! I have before and after pics... I have a little...

I got the Monocote Trim Solvent in the mail today! Man, one little drop of that stuff cleaned my whole mess up of the splattered paint! Very nice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I found a NIB Evolution 15cc for a good price a couple months ago for this guy. I'm hoping it will perform well. I've got a good back log of kits to build in the .40-.60 range that I'm hoping these engines fit the bill.

Started a new plane tonight! It was windy all weekend... so no maiden on the Ryan. This is my first complete build using the magnetic building board. We shall see how accurate I can build this:)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Finished the Ryan this evening! I installed the control horns and pushrods. I set up the radio. I put the landing gear on. Then finally balanced it. I needed to add 3 oz of lead in the cowl. That's because there is supposed to be a gearbox in the nose with a heavy old motor... all up weight with...

I am going to be helping a friend recover a 20cc Pitts which will need the residual covering removed. So now already have 2 uses for it. Lol.

I have 91% that I tried using last night with NO luck, sadly. The paint is about 6 years old. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Sweet. Ordered some off Amazon. Then I can have it all back in shape before maiden:)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I made some more progress on the Ryan. I glued in the control surfaces. I added the white trim pieces. Then I went for some white paint on the cowl. I made a pretty big mess with the spray paint as I was trying to get it nicely into a cup to use an airbrush. I was able to get some splatter onto...

To make sure the engine gets destroyed if you put the head on the wrong way, of course!

I covered the wings and started on the fuselage the last two nights. I really do hate covering round edges!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

If EDF foamies weren't so hard on batteries and have such short flight time, I would have more than my 64mm Stinger! My daughter was sent home sick today, so I had to leave work and be at home with her. She slept and watched movies all day, while I worked on my Ryan STA EP. Laundry list of...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Tonight I didn't work in the workshop... it was in the trailer cause I didn't take the ARS out of it. I moved the batteries back to the rudder servo tray. To do that, I needed to make extension wires. I also needed to reroute my elevator servo wires to place the batteries properly. Lastly, I...

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Maiden flight this evening!!! Awesome plane :) It's extremely stable. It could most definitely be used for some awesome IMAC flying. It currently is pretty nose heavy so I couldn't even get it to slow down enough to actually stall. I will move the batteries back to the rudder tray and see how...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I finished installing the cowl, put the plane together and CG'd her. It should be a bit nose heavy so I will probably be doing some adjustments. I also fired up the engine for the first time! Factory settings seem to be plenty rich with some pretty impressive low speed vibrations. So I will lean...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Today, I came home to a beautiful box from FedEx that had the new correct mufflers :). So today, I installed those and cut the holes in the cowl. I also moved the ignition to the bottom side of the plate to put it inside the fuselage instead of setting on top of the motor box. That really does...

Hey @stangflyer, I should be getting the mufflers any day now. Thanks for the offer though!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Today I made a low pressure scoop out of the same foam I made the baffles out of. Then I went into my trailer that has never had an airplane in it and made it able to tie down the plane. The only things left to do are install the mufflers, cut the holes in the cowl for the mufflers, and install...
