Scale The Naked Truth of Covering a Plane

Exactly, and I did it so that I could get the black and orange to meet perfectly, but after I did it I realized that it might be a problem. I guess when I redo it I'll try the clear nail polish or maybe use clear tape just along that leading edge area.

Scale The Naked Truth of Covering a Plane

Yea, I covered it with Ultracote and then the graphics are printed vinyl. After I had started I thought maybe I should've covered the top first and the bottom second so the bottom seam covered the top, but I did it the other way. Can I seal it with something there at the leading edge?

Thanks!! Yea, it's kind of a bummer...

Scale The Naked Truth of Covering a Plane

I have a "Build" related question, that's sort of an appendix to the recent revamp of my Great Planes Extra 300. So today I was flying and all of the sudden I saw a giant chunk flutter away from behind the plane. I immediately thought it was the rudder or an elevator, or some part of the plane...

IMAC Dalton 300 ml build thread.

your plane is really pretty! It came out awesome! I love how you have it set up inside as well. Great work! I can't wait to see it in person sometime!

I have the power! ...or do I?

    That's some great flying!

I have the power! ...or do I?

Yea, you can change the voltage to 6.5. You're right man... These servos have a ton of torque, and I really only do IMAC style flying. Occasionally I'll do my special trick the "Scrambler" which is just some crazy snap rolls mixed with a flat spin over and over or something... hahaha!

I have the power! ...or do I?

Hey, thanks for commenting! I haven't done anything yet because I'm waiting until after Christmas, but after reading a bunch I think the way it's looking... I'm going to use the Hitec HS-7954SH servos for the ailerons, with SWB arms. They're still high torque and metal, but they're about $40...

    3D Frankenstein Edge 540!

Nice work! This thread should be helpful for anyone with a damaged plane. I love what you're doing with the leading edge there.

I have the power! ...or do I?

Yea... That would be a good mid transmitter. I think I am going to go with a different RX with 2 or 3 sats... just to be safe and I may skip the ignition battery... but I'm going with the Fromeco 7.4V 5200 batts... they will be regulated down to 6V... (4) HS-7954SH servos for the ailerons...

I have the power! ...or do I?

I'm blowing my wad on the plane and electronics for now... baby steps. DX8 is a great radio...

I have the power! ...or do I?

Okay... Well I do like the added RX Sat with that receiver and it's not that much... but yea, I like the SmartFly and as Ericb said... I have to have it for all the servos going to my DX8 transmitter.

I have the power! ...or do I?

Cool man! Thanks! I guess the only reason I started second guessing my AR8000 is because I read some horror story about signal loss and I thought, "Do I need 2 satellites?"... that kind of deal.

I have the power! ...or do I?

I guess the only difference between the 7954 and 7955 is that the 55 has a titanium gear it looks like... and the 7954 has an HV coreless motor.

I have the power! ...or do I?

So, for example on the AR9110 PowerSafe, it has battery leads... but I already have the Smartfly system... so wouldn't that be redundant? What about the AR9020 which is full range with 2 sats? I already have an AR8000 too, which has never been opened.

I have the power! ...or do I?

Okay... All I'm lacking are the aileron servos. I need 4. I have the Futabas in the elevators and then that single JR rudder servo... but if I go to 2 I'll put in the same as the ailerons.

I have the power! ...or do I?

Okay. One of my buddies mentioned that too... I may go that route. I know the ignitions don't use a lot of voltage...

I have the power! ...or do I?

I gotcha. Cool! thanks for your help. It seems like the Fromecos are the way to go, and I looked up the IBEC so maybe I'll do that too!
