The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

This one does have it. Running down the middle of the fuse is a 10mm or 3/8" carbon fiber round tube. Anything bigger than this though you want to use a fiberglass tube as they have some flex too them for when you hit the ground. Lots of profiles you have seen with a black tube it is actually...

Finished getting cut parts laid out for the smaller edge profile I designed a few years ago and have been flying. Off to the CNC the files will go.

Heck in all honesty you could prolly get away with sheeting it with just 1/16" balsa and be just fine. Looking great by the way.

I would comment as well but I have a plane that is transparent purple, pink, and baby blue so I will keep quite.

    3D 20cc Giles 202 Profile

All the sheeting is done, ply rib doubler for R1 is glued on, 3/8" main spars are cut, and 1/2" LE spars are cut. Just need to rib down some 1/4" stock for the sub spars and I'm ready to start building. Got to get going to class first though so I will get back on it either tonight or tomorrow...

    3D 20cc Giles 202 Profile

First portion of the CNC cut sheeting is glued up. Needless to say this won't make it into the kit. Went together great and looks great but took way longer than I expected. Prolly 20 minutes or more so I don't think it's going to be worth the effort. Also biggest thing as the sheeting gets cut...

Yeah the sukhoi is one of the few round cowl planes that I find to be a truly good looking plane other than the SU-29 with the 2 seat canopy just looks to big. @capthis will hate me for saying that. LOL Mine is a great flying plane but even with a few dozen flights on it now I'm still not...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

LOL Yeah on days that I have taking just the sukhoi I have had a blast with it. Honestly I think if it had a bit more power I would be happier with it but I have gotten used to my 13.4lb edge profile with a DLE55 on it so when you go a pop a 16lb sukhoi that also has a DLE55 on it into a hover...

@stangflyer I'm not a huge yak fan but I have to admit I could get behind that one there. Its a nice simple clean looking scheme on it. I agree on the edge to leave the Checkers off of it. You have lots of nice toys though that's for sure. Me on the other hand I have two nice planes and one is...

Guy at our fun fly last weekend was starting his dle 170 with an electric starter. He had it on pipes and the tune and prop where way wrong for the engine. From 1/2-3/4 throttle the engine surged horribly and from 3/4-full throttle it prop ripped so bad that I was tempted to get out some ear plugs.

Everybody forms their own way. I just found that watching the tail you can see the plane starting to fall one way or the other and catch it sooner. At least that's what I'm seeing.

Only one way to get there and that's to do it. :) Seriously though when your down low and close to yourself it becomes a lot easier in my opinion. One other thing I learned and everyone does it different but for me when I pop into a hover I look at the tail of the plane the whole time its in a...

heard something rattling in the wing of my 55cc profile. Found this which is the pin at the end of the wing tube phenolic to keep it from going to far into the wing. covering is cut back. It was hard to cut into a pristine covering job. Some of the sheer web removed to get to the end of the...
