Let’s just say I am making progress. I am having my difficulties, really fighting wrinkles. Covered a lot planes over years but nothing like this most planes were generally flat sided which make a huge difference. This plane does not have single flat side on it and also tapers on the curvatures.
And that is where Monokote shines. I am going to try to use monokote to cover a cowl soon. I hear that its done and done well so I have to try it.

Yes A gent a few years ago posted that he always does it on FG. He told me it works best on a unpainted cowl. Said you couldn't do it if the cowl was painted.

Should be fiberglass, not epoxy glass as well. It's hard to believe but it works, takes two people to get the covering pulled around. I covered a complete fiberglass fuselage for a friend, pretty sure it was 1/4 scale laser, that was over 25 years ago. Crank the iron all the way up and slowly iron the covering down pulling like hell. You use more stretch than shrink.

Ok I tried to stick a piece of Ultracote to the cowl 3 by 4. It is beyond me it just would not stick and when it did not well. First piece stuck down the corners and then tried to finish it up not a chance . Second piece started in the centre and worked my way out to the perimeter bit better but all around the perimeter I had tiny wrinkles. If I had a piece of monocote to try it would be interesting how they compare . But it was worth a try.

I will give it a try later this weekend. I also used vinyl to wrap a cowl, that work well.

Vinyl is a good alternative but can I get it in Ultracote colours. I an trying all this to match Ultracote Orange, midnight blue and white. I yes I know about west wings paint company they make a good product but well over 300 dollars to paint a cowl is to much for me did it once worked well but not again.

Ok making some progress the fuselage is done , looks even bigger now.
Cleanup the shop a little and make a start on the wings. Need to add some supports in certain locations for the covering to attach too.
