59" Aero Plus Corvus Racer Build Thread `From Limitless Aero`

When I built my 3DHS 57 Extra I fouled up gluing the joiner half, I let the epoxy cure while forgetting to tape the counter balance. I ended up with a situation almost identical to what you have there. The elevator halves are 3/8" off. I decided to order another horizontal stab and start over but figured I might as well fly it in the mean time. Well the extra horizontal stab is still sitting on a shelf, I have not felt the need to change it. Initially trim flights were difficult since it was impossible to tell what is neutral on that surface since I couldn't just center the counter balance and go fly. I love the plane I fly it all the time and until I was you post I had totally forgotten about it. I think I saw a post by Ben Fisher quite a while back when he used to post, he said you'd be surprised how poorly you can assemble a plane it will still fly fine.

I agree, things like this suck and take all the fun out of assembling a new plane! As Bloosee said, you could probably get it to fly okay but I might hold off to see what they are going to do for you. If they have a solution (like shipping you a new set of elevator halves) then perfect. If they ignore your issue, I would just go ahead with the assembly. The other option is to get someone who scratch builds planes to craft a new elevator half for you. I feel your pain and good luck with the project!

We will be sending another. Some adjustments of the slot is usually required for the tie bar if it is going to be 100% straight.

Dual elevator servos on a 59" model? I've never heard of that before!

I built a the 60 Yak-55, it had a small piece of wood in the kit that was the joiner bar. Both elevators needed to be routed out in order to fit the joiner in, major PITA. Dual elevator servos is the simpler solution, however there is no way the 60 Yak would have balanced with a second standard size servo back there, plus it makes the plane more expensive.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting minis in there like I have in my 64" MSX from EF. Full size in a plane that size seems silly.
