The Maiden was a success!! 6 flights on her today. She flys great!! It flys more scale than people might think. But I'm thinking it's going to be a fun bird. I didn't get to crazy with it. New motor and still dialing in the flaps to elevator mixes. My setup: DLE 35 with JTEC muffler (heard to many bad things about the stock muff) Falcon 20x6 prop. Savox 1258tgs all around. Savox 1256tgs on the flaps. 1" aluminum hangar 9 arms. Fortitude 16oz tank, Spektrum AR9020 rx, powered by 1- LiFe 3200mah. 1- LiFe 1300mah for ignition. Rxcel Optical kill.

2013-08-11_08-32-57_352.jpg2013-08-11_08-33-04_995.jpgLooks great, I ended up using the servo box I just opened it up a little, had to epoxy it to the other side of the cabin and put just a little offset in the rod. Works really good no flex at the bend.
 
Maidened mine today. Flew at first with the 6" Dubros which made is very nose heavy. Got the flaps somewhat dialed in. After a few flights we switched them for 5" Kavan balloon tires and it made it a lot lighter and less nosy heavy. It does not look as cool though. By end of the day the only incident was that Gary ran it into the tall grass on roll out and managed to damage one of the gear strakes. Some CA and it should be fine.

We did have issues with the side door hatch. Both CA hinges came out by the end of the day and something will have to change there. I have better CA hinges from the 15cc project so I will try that next. They did such a good job on the top hatch, but the side door one is kind of shady as the door is too big to leave enough of a gap to get the door to open 90 degrees and still close on the bottom.

Patrick put in some nice LEDs, but they are 6V so we will have to wait for a regulator to show up as I am running a HV servo setup.

This plane does have a lot of scale flying tendancies. It will stall and drop a wing (no flaps) and rudder is sometimes mandatory to keep it flying well. I did hover it and do some loops and rolls, but I mainly played with the flaps . Doing a full flap takeoff and climb is pretty fun. I want to get a little more bold with high angle full flap landings. Also you have to use up elevator in the take off run to keep it from nosing over. I can see prop striking this airplane pretty easily, just like full scale planes of this type.

Maidened mine today also, it flies great really scale like until you don't want it to. Rolls really fast for a high wing plane and when you hit the flaps it slows down to a crawl. I had it at 1/4 throttle with the vvrc 40cc twin ,45 degree flaps 30 percent down elevator mix, flying in a 10 mph headwind and I just about stopped all forward motion. I was waiting for it to snap but it never did it just sat there. Yes 3dhs has another keeper.

Be sure if you try to harrier her you use the flaps. When I was talking to Jim Smith at Bowling Green, he stressed this because it will stall, or even worse snap out without the use of flaps apparently.
