AJ 93" Laser Reflex build/assembly!!!

Sooooo i flew one of these at "The Great Canadian Huckfest" a few weeks ago and decided I HAD to have one... Great group of guys!!!

I already had a DA 70 that wasn't doing anything so I ordered the reflex scheme. It arrived a couple weeks ago and I've been piddling with it off/on. Radio will be my JR11x and servos will be mostly 8611a's. .

So, here we go!!!

First, I gotta show how the boxes arrived. Fuse box was near perfect... all contents were 100%. The wing box, however, sustained some damage. AJA did a FANTASTIC job with packaging... it wasn't their fault at all. For as bad as the box looked, there was only minimal damage to one of the wings.

Repair consisted of pealing back the covering, fixing broken wood, hysol and iron the covering back down. It's all good

I did call and talk to Tim about the damage... he was MORE than willing to take care of me, I just didn't see the need because the damage was minimal and the repair was quick/easy.

Looks like the Blue def and plane met and the Urea won. Bummer. Nice fix though! Pretty impressed with these from what I have seen so far.

Yep, this scheme and the blue/red are my favorite!

I got the canister and switch in the mail yesterday. Now I have 95% of what I need to complete this thing.

I started on the control horns this morning. I opted for hysol instead of epoxy simply because I had some handy. I don't use a long "application tip" on the hysol because it wastes soooo much. So, I dispensed a little in a small mixing cup and worked glue in the slots with a stick. Pushed the assembled horn in place and cleaned up with alcohol.

Also, I opted for 1 servo push-pull to operate the rudder so I cut off one side of the rudder control horn so that side of the rudder would remain uncut/clean.

What a great idea on the Hysol mixing. Can't believe I never thought of that. Such a waste using the mixing tubes, unless you're doing a lot of it!
