Very good topic. My two cents worth on this. I can see the advantage from both directions. Buy for less, save more...buy more. Or, buy for more, save less....purchase less. It really all comes down to quality of that specific item you are purchasing. Case in point: When I first broke into gas from glow, (shudder) I found myself flooded with options. Motors were and still are a dime a dozen. You have DA....Known for their service and warranty. You have 3W....known for their longevity and overall outstanding performance. You have DLE, GP, DLA, RCG and a ton others not mentioned. That being said, I ended up choosing for cost purposes, an RCG 50cc from Hobby King. Not giving them kudos or anything but for $234.00 to my door, I thought, "hmm, can't be so bad right?" That motor turned out to be one of the best motors I have ever owned and really regret selling it. Ran better, started better, (Usually always one flip) than any other 50cc class motor. Turned the same size prop at the same rpm as the DLE 55. Although I now have two DLE 55's that run flawlessly and have straight out of the box, my sons being brand new also...it took us months to get it dialed in and dependable. What is the expected life span of that motor? (The RCG 50) Not known, but as mentioned, most of our motors or equipment will not live to their life expectancy for many various reasons. Now with an upcoming DA 170 purchase and my already awesome 157cs I am reminded of quality verses price. There are times... servo arms for example... you can buy just as good of quality for less than spending an entire paycheck on servo arms. Another case in pont: T6 6061 aluminum double lock servo arms from ebay.... $15.00 for five shipped to your door from China. That "VERY" same arm is being offered by another vendor for about $7.00 per arm. Is the Seacraft, MPI, Hangar 9 or any other brand servo arm any different? Does the brand name make the Chinese connection any less forgivable? Pretty much everything we purchase now, comes from China. There are some cases that an item doesn't. But not often. I think...and only my opinion... I like to buy quality. But I like to save money too. Will I buy an RCGF 170 over a 3W, DA or DLE for that matter? Not a chance. Will I buy 5 aluminum T6 6061 double lock servo arms from China for $15.00 over an MPI, Seacraft or other top brand name manufacturers servo arm just so I can say, "I have the best"? Most definitely.

Pick your battles...select your items based on resources, input, reputation, service, availability and cost.

I have many times caught flack about the cost of my props. "Gees, I can buy an entire airplane for what it cost you for your prop!" I say, if it makes ya happy and you're satisfied, it doesn't matter what other people think.

It cost time and money to do research and development to turn out a quality product!!!!! The cost of that has to be amortized in to the final cost of the product. When you don't have those cost and all you do is STEAL the work of others than you can make it cheaper and its usually inferior. Its a shame when you see parts of a Chinese engine with the DA logo stamped on the connecting rod because they didn't even take the time to grind it off when they made there casting to copy the part. By the way this is not just China, we have had it done to us here in the USA and they had the nerve to put patent pending on there label!! we got it removed!! LOL!!

@stangflyer if you want your "pm" box to work, you have to turn it on in your settings. Right now nobody can start a conversation with you. Just an FYI.
