i am calling it a night. i just remembered i still have to add the hard point to the bottom of the stabs for the set screw on the stab tube. added security.
Installed the fairings for the fin just now and then placed the filler. took me about 4 attempts on each side before getting it just right. this is 1/8" balsa that is wet to help it bend. once this dries, i will sand it smooth in the morning. around 5:45 am.

i just  checked the alignment or parallelism of the wing tube relative to the spar tube, and they are dead on.  within 1 mm at the tips of the wing tube.  this confirms the measurements we made prior to gluing in the spar tube socket several months back.

ok, next step is to place a hard point on the bottom of the spar tube phenolic on both sides.  then do a final sanding, then i can cover the airplane and the stabs/rudder.

still need the wings, so it may take a while longer for me to get this bird done.  I also have to finish the canopy/hatch area.

I have to make an instrument panel. anyone know where i can buy the face only?

Yep...they are nice.  Also, Iflytailies.com makes some great stuff.  I used their instruments and switches to make this one for my 35% Krill.

If you want something simpler, just google for photos of Extra 300 planels and print them to the size you need.  Take it to Staples, etyc and have it laminated...then glue to your backing in the plane.

Thank you Brian and Earle. Ok, i just did a tiny  bit of more work in the shop when i got home from work.  I am on call tonight, so i have to keep phone next to me til 7 am.

I have a pilot that has somewhat survived two crashes, and it is time he get a face lift. my wife has volunteered to repaint him, but she want me to remove the paint off his face.  I was able to get this much off with denatured alcohol and then i tried lacquer thinner.   i will have to work on it some more before i can pass it off to her.
