Curious what kind of hard point blocks you used for the control horns?

I used a solid hard wood in the rudder and just balsa on the ailerons and elevator. I was gong to use had wood but as I was thinking about it the week point is the foam and hard wood or not if its going to pull out the foam is where it will happen. So I hope it holds Lol.

Should work fine, just curious. I use balsa but I harden it with CA before installing. I did several without hardening and they worked great, only had one fail. Since hardening I've beat the tar out of them and never had a failure.

One wing sheeted and the leading and trailing edges glued on. If you build one of these make sure you have a few rolls of masking tape. I think I have used more masking tape on the plane than I have in my entire lifetime.
Yap..lots of tape. Looking good.

Another very late night. Sorry I will get more pics today, been so focused I keep forgetting to stop and take pictures. Thankfully Terry is up all hours to answer my stupid questions:dancing-chicken:

Got the engine and exhaust in. All the servos are installed and programmed. I made the tank only to realize the vent line rubs to canopy hatch cover but luckily I was able to burn out some foam and it clears fine. I thought I was going to have to make a new tank with a 90 fitting for the vent so keep this in mind Bipenute. I will go into more detail on the balancing tomorrow and how I arrived at my first test balance point. I have put a great deal of thought into the balance for this particular plane and after I fly and play with the balance will try and come up with a guide line for future builders. Because of the light wing loading this plane almost has two balance points one at high speed and one at low speed. Terry confirmed my suspicions regarding this. Late last night I contacted Terry in a panic as my initial balance had the plane so nose heavy it felt like I would need a brick in the tail, to much work and not enough rest, hit me over the head, I did not have the stabs on. When I looked back at the tail I almost fell over laughing at myself. I should have it all buttoned up tonight and ready to run the engine tomorrow. If all goes well I am set for the maiden Saturday.

@Spats thanks for the information on the fuel tank. The plane is looking great and I'm liking forward to seeing the videos on it.

Still have a couple small things to do but took it out into the sun for some pics. I ran the new GP 123 on cans. 6200 out of the box on a 29x10 Mejlik so should have plenty of power. Final weight is 28.5lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel. I was thinking it might be more with the cans and all the extra strengthening I did every where so I am super happy.

One thing about this plane is its so delicate. Not that it will break easy it's actually strong but the light thin balsa dents very easy and shinny new covering shows everything. I will really have to watch out for the hanger rash.

I like to open the bottom of the cowl on all my planes and keep things as cool as possible. Of course I needed to install my signature Spats. The batteries are in the first temporary location. Expecting to move them around.
