Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi

I guess I should start a thread on this plane at my new home ( GSN ) so current and new members on this sight can find info on this plane.

I did this thread in the 3D planes because that is the flying that I like to do, but this is an awesome IMAC plane.



Anyone that needs help / advise please ask and I am sure that the GSN members will help you out in any way we can.



Mine started live with a DA-150 on RE3 pipes and had plenty of power.



But here is my current set up.



Unmodified air frame with all stock hardware and main landing gear.

DA-170 on RE3 pipes.

Thirteen JR DS8711 servos.

Smartfly EQ6 Turbo.

Two Ultra Power 8.4V 5600mah Li-Ion packs for radio gear.

One Ultra Power 8.4V 2600mah Li-Ion pack for ignition with Smartfly ignition regulator.

JJ tailwheel assemble.

True Turn aluminum spinner.

Louvers on cowl and tuned pipe tunnel.

Futaba 14FS and R617FS



Came in just a tad over 38 pounds.

I had to go over to FG and get Frank over here. It just wouldn't have been the same without him. Now we just need to go over and get the rest of the gang.



As for mine I have a set of headers on the way for my 150L. They only had the 12.5" ones so Tony is sending some extensions to silver solder on before I install them. I want to get the engine run in some before the end of the season before putting in onto a new airframe over the winter. I am curious to see how it flys compared to the 170 I currently have on it.

Why would the headers need to be so long ? I flew a Sukhoi with a 150L yesterday, great combination The 150l idles as smooth as my 200

It gives it a super smooth mid range with no flat spots. You do lose a touch on the top end though. It is all give and take.

I ran my DA150/RE3 combo with 11" headers. A little peaky but geez the power.

Really like what you have done to your Sukhoi. Brought mine out to the building table this morning. I will begin by laying all the wiring inside. I "REALLY" like the louvers on the cowl and the can tunnel. Where did you get them? Also, your paint looks as though it matches perfectly. Is it a Hangar 9 color? Or did you have it custom matched? Looking forward to yours as well as everyone else's input during this build. Thanks.....
