Working on covering the fuse. Couldn't figure out s way to do the swoops using the glass method so I'm just gonna have to lay down all the green and then lay the orange graphics over it.
so you can see I have everything but the turtle deck covered. Last time I did a fattie the turtleneck area didn't turn out so hot. I'm determined not to let that happen this time.
First up I took my time and maxes paper template. I used butcher paper for this. I first folded it in half and then traced what I thought the profile of the vertical stab would be. That way I cut once and both sides are identical. First cut was close and with a minor tweak the second cut was perfect. Then I laid it over the TD and marked out where all my cuts needed to be made. The fold down the middle of the paper helped line it up right. Then tape the template down after its cut to make sure it's the way you want it
Next with the backing still on the covering I sprayed my piece of glass with windex and laid the covering down over the wet glass. This holds the covering in place without having the tape it.
Next tape the template down over the covering. The little extra time it took to make the template pays off here. If i screw up the cut there is enough covering left on the other side to cut it again.
Part cut all the way out. Only had to cut it once. Now let's see if I can get it down in one shot.
I'm freaking ecstatic with how well this turned out. Few small wrinkles I need to work out over the whole fuse before I can lay down the the orange over top of it. Also need to the rudder to be ready before hand so I'm showing it a little TLC at the moment.
Picked up some paint.
It's hard to see but a spot in the middle of the covering has been painted and then sprayed with a bit of rattle can clear coat. I would say the color match is pretty damn close.
Ok back to it for me.
