Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

It was a while ago and I'm guessing it was very early 2013. The Superbrain 100A HV was tried for the first time in the summer of 2011. I eventually restricted the output to about 65A and put it in the EF Edge 540T EXP on the DM4315-480 with a 16x8 Xoar on 6S. So that was still 1440W on the 5.5 pound plane, and most of the videos of Tom flying that plane were actually with that ESC. Never had any issues again with timing on that plane with the Amps governed by the throttle endpoints, but I eventually tossed that ESC and went to the Castle. We were then getting 1620W and 72A.

Please let me know how the newer Hobbywing ESCs work out for you. I think I paid something like $67 for it and $100 for the Superbrain.

This is the one. I bought the last one they had, at least for today.

About the same price as the Gecko, so no bargain. I can probably pick up a 80HV at Nall from one of the vendors. I will try to remember to tach my setup on Saturday. 3100 watts is a some great power. The plane is almost exactly 11 pounds with Glacier 45C 3700s, which are the heaviest batteries I have for it. 3300s are going to be the norm. Xoar and Falcon 21x10s.

My ESC looked nothing like that so it's obviously been updated. It actually looks more like the HK Superbrain:

Here's the KForce: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9328__turnigy_k_force_100a_brushless_esc.html

And this is the Hobbywing that was the same as the KForce: http://www.helidirect.com/hobbywing-platinum-pro-100a-esc-p-18857.hdx

When you had a pull with both 21x10 props, let me know what you think.

There seems to be a problem with my 125A ZTW, When I go and push the throttle fast to full it quits half way through, like it loses all power. I havnt tried the other one, I will do a video tomorrow at the 3D bash, damn I thought I was ready for the Bash. I can still fly it just cant push fast to full throttle or I will lose the plane. I maidened the plane today and I didnt notice because I was being gentle.

Do you have it on auto timing?

I hate to say it, but I wonder if there is a bad batch of controllers out there right now?

Where have you all gotten yours from?

Yeah its on auto, got two from 3drcparts, Its to late right now to run the other one so I will do it at the Fly-in. I was reading and watching your vids on here and decided to push the throttle to full with speed and it stops the motor. I can advance it slower and get good spool up, but what if it decides to just stop the motor at the wrong time lol

Which motor. I read the manual today and it looks like 22 degrees or 30 degrees for high pole count motors. I switched mine to 30 as I have a 28 pole motor.

A pure cutout could be different. are you saying you're getting no knocking or squelching or cogging? Just a power cutout with no recovery even after you reset the throttle to idle?
