Started cutting some wood tonight. Let the games begin!

Which brings me to my next question. I plan on using Titebond III for most of the balsa to balsa joints. Can I mix in Microballoons with the Titebond for better gap filling when needed?

Personally I would not put micro into titebond due to the shrinkage and it may be hard to mix it thoroughly. Last Fall I cam upon this stuff and it is quite honestly the best filler material I've ever seen! Dries fast, weighs nothing, fiber reinforced. I've heard of people using the 3M Wall Repair with super results. I may give it a try "IF" I ever build another plane. HA! Yeah....

Awesome! Thanks Terry. I'm going to stop by Lowe's on my way to work this morning and see if they have that in stock. If not, I'll order some. Sounds like great stuff.

Another question for you Terry, I can't remember what brand of CA you use? Was it Loctite? I think @BalsaDust uses the same.

No Terry was using Titebond brand CA. I used the Loctite brand for a while but I noticed after a couple of dorks in a plane I used it in that it does not wick in like other stuff. For me now I use Bob Smith Industries for my thin CA and Gorilla Glue brand medium CA. The medium I am able to pick up at walmart when I'm in a pinch that's why.

Agree with terry I would not mix microballons with the titebond III. Best advice is take your time and work on making better and tighter joints.

Hate to start a "Glue Debate" but get you some Zap CA, you won't regret it. I've spent a lot of money on pretty much every CA on the market and Zap is the best. Just my 2 cents

Also a good gap filler (outside of better joints) is to push some balsa dust down into the joint and then saturate the dust with thin CA and sand it out flush. Works pretty good.

I will agree with that Zap ca is one of the best but do you not find in last few years that it is not as good as it use to be. It is definitely changing. Still using there thin stuff but have changed to another brand in the medium.

To add to the glue debate Zap is definitely not what it once was. I used to use Zap on plywood all the time, but it just doesn't seem to hold like it did 25+ years ago. Of course back then the shelf life was REALLY short. Just my opinion, other peoples results may be better. I used Titebond II on my scratch build project and it worked great, but next time I want something that dries clear.
