Krill Extra 330 LX building thread

Okey dokey.
Got the NACA ducts now it's time to install them.
Bought a bunch load of them from hobby king and the look awesome.
Very easy to cut and glue.
Thought about installing the regular louvers on top of the upper half one above race cylinder.
A NACA duct where the headers are so it will cool the cans and let fresh and cool air enter the fuse and cool them.
Two small ones on the sides of the front fuse to let fresh air inside too.

On the back of the fuse I'll open a hatch with louvers to clear the hot air out and to make a good circulation.

Last beneath the cans I'll open another hatch with louvers for the hot air as well.

Jlc what's the baffle in the middle of the cowl ?

Thanks Joe. Ariel just live to help building his new plane. ;-)
If you are referring to the carbon fiber looking plate that is the firewall that the engine bolts to... @Jlc can verify,or correct me, if you are referring to something else.

Air ventilation, baffles and everything else.
Well I must say that the Extra cowling can really freak you out and by saying that I mean it is so narrow you can't do anything in there.
Lucky for me I've got a split cowl so it was much easier then I thought it'll be.

I've used several technics I've seen lately by some builders about the baffling.
Like I've said the cowl is very narrow we'll need to take every hot air outside so we will need to seal the gaps behind the cylinders and to create a wall that will force the air to go down.
That being said, I've used the Herex to create a rigid barrier and a flexible foam to be between the cowl walls and the Herex, exactly like in real planes that way the cowl wall is forced to touch the sealed wall and by that it creates an almost perfect seal.

As for the NACA duct, well the environment that these plastic ducts are forced to deal with is pretty hot so I've glued one just to test trial and to see if it can handle the heat inside the cowl.

Looking good and getting close, Taz!

I was temp gun'n my similar baffle job and the cylinder with the larger gap behind it was 20 degrees F hotter than the cylinder with the smaller gap behind it. So I filled in the larger gap to match the smaller gap and the temp came down on that side 20 degrees to match the other cylinder. Not that this is necessary, I was just interested, so I did it. haha

You've got my curiosity.
When I'll do the break in I'll check it too if I'll see any difference I'll make the same way you did by closing the gap.
