You can make a swell lift fork on your 1440 lathe.

Big lathe and mill are about 3 miles away at my shop. Almost need a collet for this work.

Some cutting but stopped shy and took the part home to the mini lathe.

Does the mini lathe have a compound?

The head stock will rotate, all though I couldn't figure that out last night. So I moved the x and y handles at the same time. Just a test piece run.

Milling and threading. I slightly over cut the threaded rod area, so confirming a test run. . I used the mini lathe to hold the die.

Some milling attempts. Item is too small after all the work but the next one will be better.

Will probably stick that practice piece in the need to finish box and get back to bigger areas.

Found a mistake in my build and am resolving it this weekend. For some reason I had the wing rear pin area outside of the wing instead of inside. Not to hard to fix fortunately, just needed to find a way to extend the pin from the fuse.

That helped fix another issue as the back end of the cabin wing area was loose. Locking that in finally is a relief.

What did you wrap the brass tube with?
