You need a lathe!

Interesting comment, joined the hobby machinist forum recently while I research a mini lathe. Sounds like a thread to start on GSN.

I started looking at at the 7x14 mini lathe and ended up buying a 9"x19", wished I would bought a bigger lathe with cross feed. My 9x19 does everything I want it too just get tired of cross feeding manually. You will spend more money on tooling than the lathe. Once you have it for a while you will wonder how you got along without one. Go for it.

Working on landing gear today.

More landing gear work today. Plans call for a bent sheet metal cross member, I chose to use 1/4" tubing.

Continuing work on the landing gear piece. Polished the blackened flux away to expose a few holes in the solder. Much easier to fill in than the actual soldering, different thickness metals are not easy to solder.

Should be able to heat the solder defect away.

Working on the other side of landing gear assembly. Mostly done in a day.

Looking at axle options. Tried a Dubro 3/16 axle. It threaded into my 3/8" tubing so tight I had to use a vise. I was worried it would split the tubing. Anyway, close enough for the moment.

Tried a Dubro Cub wheel on the axle. It warms my heart to see some sort of progress.
