Lesson learned on the servos. I've never plugged in direct with no ESC but now I know and will always remember your story. So, perhaps the mishap served some purpose...

As for CG, it's 50mm (5cm) back from the leading edge of the top wing. I played with the batteries I have nd have 2 slots cut now. One slot is where I put the 3S 450 and the other is where I put the 3S 850. When running the 3S 850 sitting sideways in the slot, the front edge of the slot is about 2.5" from the motor mount.
