Been using allen heads from RTL for servo arms too for awhile now. I use M3x6mm that fit Futaba and Blue Bird servos. Servo mounting screws I get from RTL as well. 4 sizes to choose from so anything from micro to HVHT digitals can get mounted securely and not mess up the finish with that "harpoon" you described :).

All of our newer stuff uses 3x8mm now, and the metal geared servos now include an allen bolt. No more fiddling with finding 2.6x8 bolts ;)

Good Friday morning everyone. It is a beautiful day here in the valley. Bright warm sun climbing higher in the crystal clear blue skies. This is apparently a day for flying. A powered hang glider flies over head while from a different direction a Piper Cub putt putts along a different course. Bastards! I'm stuck working. Ugh! Lol. Oh well, plan to get some flying in this weekend. I'm thinking the Pilot RC Edge needs an outing. In the meantime, I did get more of the canopy on the 330 sanded last night. I am thinking I will go back over it with 400 or 600 grit paper. I want that surface smooth as a babies behind. I am confused though. I really don't know what to make of the layers of paint/primer that is under the original red paint. Top layer is the red paint. Below that is a greyish/white layer. I'm assuming it is primer. Below that is a green layer. (What you see in the photos) I suspect it is a barrier of some sort. And below that is another layer of white primer/barrier/sealer??? I have no clue. Cruz we all know how much I know about painting, right? Have any of you run across anything like this before? Is there any one of you that has had any experience with this? Perhaps Doug can give us a few pointers on this? If I have to, I will send clear down to the clear canopy. But I really don't think it's necessary and I think that the Green Layer will give a very good surface for the new Wings West RC paint primer to adhere to. For now I am going to hold off on any more sanding on the canopy until I get more information on this. Tonight after work I am going to start sanding on the cowl. My hope is that I can get some primer and paint on the surfaces this weekend. But until then, a couple of photos of the canopy so you all can see what I'm talking about.

I would just prime it. Chances are it will work fine. It's hard to say what all different layers are, you just never know.
