Hey Rob,

I love the bolt in the end of the axle idea. I may have to "borrow" that idea for my Monster GP Stick. . . . . :way_to_go:.

Rob I'm not going to say " I told you so" just yet but as I type this I bet your busy turning green with envy over your painted cowl and oh so close to being finished.

I did start the wing repair on my 330sc today but a little over 3 months and still "no fuse for me" . The Fuse Nazi going to get a spoonful of my soup! :dancing-chicken:......

I wouldn't necessarily say green with envy... maybe a little "An-ti-cipation… An-ti-cipation is making me wait. It's making me waaaait...ing. A little strange you should make the comment you did. I was actually just thinking tonight, "Oh how much I am so ready to have this thing done!" It's a little spooky that we are on basically the same wave length. I am ready to get few laps on her and start/finish that danged Velox. Seems all my waking hours have been on that damn 330. I just hope it will be worth it in the long run. I fired up the 157cs again tonight. I guess just to hear it run. Oh my, what an animal. Soon enough and it will be done.

I am sorry to hear that your fuse is.... "Lost In Space". The space somewhere between where it is at present and you. Not a good place to be. Have you contacted them to see what the hold up is? Anything I can do to hep ya out? At least you have a few extra minutes to get that wing repair done. I would dare say a spoonful of soup is much better than a spoon full of sugar. Course it does help the medicine to go down right? Oiy...where did this tangent come from? LMAO

Here's my "theory"....... I ordered it through Chief (where I bought the plane) and in all honesty they said probably "July when the next container comes in". Now I know Toni has a new warehouse in SDCA and I bet one is just sitting there while mine is sitting in a hot container waiting customs. Logistics .

choke rod dilemma for a minute. And much like @pawnshopmike suggested, I came up with a variation of his superb idea. Rather than having a much larger hole than I would like, I chose to still conjoin the two holes. But first let me say, a single choke rod

invariably pokes me or scratches me or... I know, I sound like I need to pull my big girl panties up huh?!? Or I can put a wheel collar on it to grap on to and also protect my delicate (old) skin. Hee hee... Ooorrrr.... I can put a 90 degree bend in it. Thus giving me something to pull on and at the same time protect my princess flesh. But wait...how do we get a bent rod through a round hole, you may ask? Not too unlike putting a square peg in a round hole, I think. Oh, it fits. Trust and believe. As long as your hammer is big enough, "anything" can be driven into home plate!

That said, I chose a more gentle, (delicate) approach. Hence, conjoined holes.

Now I can simply slip the cowl on with the bent rod in place. Once cowl is bolted down, a small piece of full tubing slipped over the rod will give me a sure grip and protect the sharp end of the rod. Or I guessss... I could grind the end of the rod so it is not sharp. Naa... too much work. Lmao.
20180710_201928.jpg 20180710_201911.jpg Ah ha! No more scratches and pokes!

That problem solved, I merrily smiled and promptly took the two cowl halves to the kitchen sink and proceeded to do a final 600 wet sand of the primer. Once a light rub over was done, the cowl parts were rinsed in warm water and set aside to dry.

Rob, I put a piece of shrink tube over the 90 degree end on my choke rods. It also protects the cowl a bit.
