If that's what your models are going to look like now, for the love of Pete, no more photo shoots!

Right?! haha I should do a "shoot" with this one for fun... hmmmm....

The plane is the Pilot RC Extra 330. It's the scheme I wanted when I put together the purple one, but it wasn't in stock then. So, when the red/white/blue one was back in stock... I called @Jefflesh to see if he wanted to buy the purple one and then I picked up the one you see here and put it together. :) I'm never happy though, the bottom has too much blue and I will recover that when I get a chance.

This plane is more nose heavy and tracks more like @Spats plane. But, it's not as fun as my crazy tailheavy purple plane was. haha

How's the power? :sneaky:

I don't know how much fuel this engine has through it (Joe Mitchell?) because ZDZ test ran it, and Joe said he test ran it for me, just to be sure, too. But, it already has tons of power. Much more bottom end than I had with the 3W-170CS on stock mufflers and the DA-170 on RE3 tune pipes. Top end on the DA-170 on tune pipes might have been better, but if this motor has not been broken in that may change. And, the bottom end may still come up a ton, too. I'm new to the ZDZ-180 so I'll have to get some experience still. Also, I'm running a Mejzlik 32-10 (original version), and they don't really honk planes around to begin with. Once I get a prop jig for these smaller bolts I'll put on a Falcon 31-12 and this engine may very well have more top end than I experienced with the DA-170 on tune pipes, as well, we'll see. I was generally running a Falcon 31-12 on the DA, and that prop has a nice bite, much more than the Mejzlik 32-10 original. So, anyway, I don't have enough experience to really say a lot right now. Other than it has way more power than any other 170cc class engine with a mejzlik 32-10 on it. It started really quick and easy out of the box, it starts really quick and easy right after a flight, or after it has completely cooled off, or anywhere in the middle (i.e., no vapor locking). It idles very low for a new engine, and VERY smooth... much smoother than the DA and even the 3W. Transition is great on the stock mufflers over the tune pipes, but that's to be expected. I love, love, love the 9360 throttle servo! Oh, and everyone is commenting on how good it sounds. I've always liked the sound of canisters best, but I like this sound too. :)

Doubt the factory does much more than just fire it up, check for leaks and check for run-up. Can't say what Joe did for you. What I will say is that mine really started to feel different after four flights and a couple tuning starts. My H is set about perfect and my L is still a bit rich so I plan to get about 4-6 more flights before I start to fine tune that L to get some of the slobber out.

I will also say that my first flight was only 8 minutes and used about 3/4 of a 50 oz tank of fuel, my fourth flight was longer and used less than half of a 50 oz tank so be careful not to tune it too lean as it will lean out itself in the first few gallons.

Still hoping to get my MX out but mother nature is being a little biotch.

Yeah... I have to say... this motor has way more power than any motor I've ever run. Even with the Mejzlik 32-10 original prop if I'm in a hover and punch it... I'm like 1000' up in no time (sorry FAA, haha). I've got six more flights on it now (10 total) and it is just a great engine. So far, it would seem, definitely best in class. I guess @Tavis was right again! haha

I put Joe Nolasco's new and known good DLE 170 on my Sukhoi. Check out the vids of Kyle flying this motor at my event, it did great. Although, I wouldn't mind having another ZDZ-180. haha

Joe Nolasco of P1 Hobbies fame... is talking about offering a service where he test runs new DLEs before shipping them out. Do you guys think there would be interest in something like that? What if you had the option to pay an additional $75 for a new DLE 170 that was run and known good, would you take that option? Or just take your chances and save the $75? I know I would have gladly paid an additional $75 to have a known good DLE 170 vs what I went though trying in vain to get my new one started up.
