If you want more of the truth go to the Profile brotherhood, it is all about profiling which includes a lot of hovering and harrier's. I learned a lot about propping from them when I started with the profiles.

Oh, I'd definitely go up in pitch. At 18 your on the very bottom, go to the top my man, at least 20. But like you I would go to the 22 being you have it.

The brand and type of prop can make as big of a difference as sizes. Some flex more and less than others. If you go with Fiala the 32x20 would probably be the max for they have virtually no flex.

And just my opinion but these, http://www.aircraftinternational.com/Products/Propellers/JCSuperProps.aspx, are just as good.
They don't list your size but I have been told they will get any they don't stock.
