Gyro, I know the 3dhs edge isn't one of my favorites, but I haven't flown the shp- do you prefer that over the EF edge?

Can't really compare the two honestly... When i had the 47" SHP, I was flying it on 3s, with around 500w power (Omega 103 equivalent) using 3s2200 batts, where as my EF 48" Edge was on 4s with 850w power, using 4s2650s... two totally different animals!

Now, compared to other 3dhs birds, the 47" SHP (v4) was only second to the 48" Vyper to me on my personal favorites. I felt the SHP had great low speed characteristics with easy hovers and harriers, while still (even on the light setup I had) performing well in spins and tumbles.

Yeah I always recommend the 4s setups on the 48's. I love the tumbles on that edge! It was also my first balsa plane that I harrier landed more than regular land! Loved that edge!

Not trying to start a brand war here, but I would rather get a 3DHS plane because honestly, more people have them and I can get more help. No offense to EF, they have awesome planes but I don't want to be that one guy at a 3DHS fly-low-in with the only EF plane......... and EF is more expensive for the 48" ones.

No brand wars here... I think people are just sharing their personal preferences. Go with what you like, they're both AWESOME airplane manufacturers!

I was suggesting the edge because the wire gear is perfect for learning how to land. Just keep bending it back till you get your landings down.

No brand war needed- I recommended the EF 48" edge, but prefer the 51" AJ Slick, in 60 size I prefer EF, then go back to 71" slick in the 25% size. As for more people owning the plane: there are thousands of posts out there for both planes, so I don't think that should be a factor at all. Before you lock yourself onto one brand for social reasons, try the others first! Once you try them you'll probably be like us and own multiple EF and multiple 3dhs frames! Unless you are sponsored I would highly recommend against putting all your eggs in one basket!

At the end of the day- they are all awesome frames, we're just giving you a non-biased opinion on all the options! You'll be happy with whatever you chose!

getting ready to leave for truck driving school at the end of the week...i won't be able to get on much....614/462/0081...save me and say hi sometime...ill try to check in from across the country....if you text me tell me your screen name so i know who I'm talking to....my stupid azz droid done poops out every now and then so i can save you as a contact but as soon as it crashes out i will lose some of my contacts even though they get saved to the sd card......gotta winterize the house...and sell the glock. I cant carry a gun in a semi truck and i need the startup money so its gotta go...temporarily. When I'm ok financially ill get another.
On a good note however, I went to the bank the other day to pay a mortgage payment and long story short, I'm refinancing it and going from 24 years that i still owe to 15!....if my expenses on the road are a lot less ill be able to double up and have the house paid in 7ish years!....I won't be burning fuel in my vehicles driving to work, virtually no gas bill or electric bill, and if i get into an area where there are some hillbillies in other necks of the woods i can shwing by and meet some people....maybe i can even run black market rc plane deliveries smokie and the bandit style!!..hahahaha.....keep it real....ill be around.....

Definitely agree! I have owned/own 4 3DHS planes and 3 EF planes and have yet to be disappointed. No one is going to look at you funny for flying an EF plane.

I liked the 48'' Edge from EF but the landing gear on the 3dhs Edge will definitely save you some $$$ in the long run.

It definitely can save you damage on a bad landing, but it was annoying me on good landings! It's all preference! Like I said- you will be happy with either! I flew both before I bought mine and just preferred the EF.
