I have to say that I a very happy with the service that I have received from Horizon Hobby. A year and a half ago I bought a Spektrum DX-18 from a private party. I got a descent deal with him, although he had a scratch in the display lens that he tried to polish out and all he did was put a bunch of tiny scratches in it with the polish and what ever he was using as a rag or whatever. Didnt take away from the transmitter other than it bugged me. At the last of the season I started having an issue with the rudder stick. The transmitter would seem like it would loose calibration on the rudder stick and the rudder of whatever I was flying at the time would start shaking back and forth until I did a re calibration of the transmitter then it would be fine for a while. It got to the point when I had to re calibrate the transmitter about every third flight. So I filled out the service request on the Horizon Hobby site and priority mailed the transmitter in this past Monday. They notified me that they received it yesterday. I got a phone call from the tech this morning and said he had to replace the left side gimble and its pots and that they were going to do that for free!! (I did tell them I purchased it from a private party up front) and they replaced the display lens for me as requested. I did have to pay for that, so I asked how much the bill was...... Came out to 40 bucks and that included shipping back to me!! I said that I would really like to have it priority mailed so I could set up my new plane with it and that I would gladly pay for the added cost..... They upgraded it to priority 2 day mail for free!! I will have the transmitter back on Saturday!!! 6 days from the day I mailed it in and for 40 bucks!!! Way to go Horizon Hobby!!!!

I have never had an issue with horizon. Thats the main reason i fly spektrum. Ive never tried to cheat them out of anything so times that i have expected to pay they have not charged me. Thats what keeps customers coming back.

I have a quick question. Does anyone here or has anyone here ever owned a P-51D Mustang in the 50cc or larger class and if so can you share you experience with it?

Bush,

There are 2 giant scale Hangar 9 P-51s at our field. Both owners love the planes. One has flown the other has yet to maiden. I have seen both up close and have been very impressed with the quality of the kits. The main gear for these planes are about the beefiest retracts I have seen on any plane. The fit and finish is very nice. The air inlet in the nose is quite small which presents some cooling concerns. The guy that hasn't done the maiden yet added some louvers to the bottom of the cowl to try and get more air out and he is considering adding more. The other owner opened the bottom and put in an air dam to create a low pressure area and try to "pull" more air through.

It has a reputation of being a great flying P-51 and the owner who has flown his agrees. He said he was impressed with slow flight characteristics.

The one that has flown has an EME 60 in it. The one that hasn't has an Evolution 62 in it.

If you have specific questions, I will be happy to get you answers. I talk with these 2 all the time.

Thanks for the info Bill, well here's what Im looking at:

AeroWorks 50CC MUSTANG P-51D ARF QB

Chief Aircraft Hangar 9 P-51D Mustang 60cc ARF

Problem is I can't see either of these up close and in person so I have no idea of the quality and attention to detail they are. Some of the reviews I read on the Horizon site HERE were not very favorble for the Hanger 9 60e.
So I thought I would see if I could get some more information on this. This will be quite a significant purchase and if I don't like what I get back I will have to fall back on my secondary plan and build a Bipe that I have always
wanted since I started this hobby. Thing is I have have always wanted a P51d first. :)

Thanks again brother for helping me out with this, and tell you buds at the field I said thank you as well.

It was a great day. I stayed until after 6pm too!

That EF extra in the foreground is no longer. The dimwit owner (not me) didn't check the ailerons before take off. They were backwards. SPLAT!
