Well ya know Kelly? After our conversation of a few days ago, I am thinking I will put the snorkel back on the 106. True I gained some rpm on the ground. 6570 is what she is twisting the Falcon 28x10. And sounds really solid, consistent and strong. But in the air...she has a dut...da...dut dut...da dut....miss. I am thinking it is the turbulence of air past the carb. Since it is in direct line of the small round opening in the lower front of the cowl, it may be getting some really "dirty" air. So, I may lose a couple of rpm's on the ground, but in the air is where it matters most. I will definitely keep ya posted. All things being considered though, ain't nuttin' like a pair of red headed jugs to keep ya breathin' hard eh? Well, unless it is a set of quad red headed jugs.

My 106 has had a snorkel on it for years.

Not a lot accomplished on the Behemoth Yak last night guys. Only a few minor things that need to be taken care of before I can proceed. As with the first Yak, I did have to cut canister relieves in the front former at the lower area of the can tunnel. I also finished tri stocking the tank floor and firewall assembly. Tonight I will get the canister mounts made and installed, then I will be able to put the canisters in. Once they are in I can finish up the motor box. The top motor box plate needs to go on, the bottom throttle Servo plate needs to go on also. Then I can add my ignition system and the baffling for the engine and the fuse should be done. I will post some photos of the progress this evening. Almost done and ready to fly.

I have a lot of experience with tune pipes from racing 1/8 scale gas cars and building tune pipes in my 20's for 50cc racing bikes. But I must say no experience on aeroplanes. But it is the same principle. Two strokes and tune pipes.

Not as much accomplished this evening as hoped. But hopefully if I pace myself at just the right speed, I will be able to still get the "BIG" Yak completed by this weekend "AND"....maybe even catch some "zzzzz's"!
I did get the aileron control horns epoxied in on the left wing panel. Really not too difficult as everyone all knows. Just one of those steps that just "has" to be completed.



It really won't take me long to set this wing panel up. Since I will be using the servos and hardware as well as the harnesses from the Behemoth Yak (1). Basically remove 12 servo screws, pull three servos, remove the harness...set that wing aside and restring the harness in the Behemoth Yak (2) wing. Plug in the servo leads and secure with servo plug locks. Screw down each of the three servos and program. Heck, programming should take but 2.3971 seconds. Hee hee.

Got a little more accomplished the last few days. Left wing panel now has control horns epoxied in, servo harness strung and all servos installed. I'll get some photos posted tomorrow after work. But suffice it to say, she's almost ready for the landing gear, baffling of the 212 and cowl. I think she'll just make it in time for Huckfest.

Here is the latest progress on the Behemoth Yak (2). Sorry I have been so pre-occupied to get you all updated.



Basically, both wings are all harnessed and servo'd up. Belly vent covering removed, landing gear is now bolted in place. I started installing the baffling on the 212 last night. About all that is left is to install the L-80's and mounts, attach the throttle servo tray, glue in the top motor box plate and install the ignitions. From there, it is all just double checking my programming and connecting linkages. After that, one full day of setting the cowl and adding deflectors and "DONE". I really expect to have the Yak done and flight ready by Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week. Just in time to get a couple of maiden flights in before Tri-Cities. Dear Lord, let that 212 not fall apart...again.

Hopefully it will run as silky smooth as my buddies 200 did today. It's been so long since we ran it I'd forgotten just how nice those four cylinders could be.
