That is not a good report on the PM servos. I would be embarrassed if I was a user of manufacturer.

Right??? I have a few PM's but time will tell on how they hold up. I'm looking for some servos for the 91ARS300, haven't decided where to end up on yet. Those 9380's sound pretty sweet, but may break the bank for me. Piggy bank has already been interrogated, threatened, beaten, and eventually thrown against the wall for extra funds... with no avail. Although titanium gears are strong and smooth, Titanium is prone to galling easier if the lubrication fails. I'm still leaning on the 2290's based on word of mouth and price point.

Here’s another option. These have been selling really well lately. PM me for a price if you want.

I don't have any fancy testing equipment but I do test a new servo to see if it moves the stated weight. I mount the servo to the bench with the arm past the edge, the latest test was with the Savox 1270TG. With the arm both vertical and horizontal it could hold the attached 30lbs and move it with ease using very little current according to the meter. The biggest thing for me is when the arm is horizontal will it hold the 30lbs centered and then move smoothly toward the weight as well as away from end point to endpoint. So far Savox has met my needs.
One day I may end up with something like the Carf S12 and may very well go with something like the Hitec 9380/81.

SV1270TG - High Voltage Coreless Digital Servo, .11/486.1 @ 7.4V, 480 oz. is 30lbs at the one inch mark from center of rotation. I spoke with someone at Savox and they said this was correct. Also worthy of noting is if I run in the 3/4" hole there is even more torque, of which most of mine are in. This could also be why some have voltage issues with using 2-4 inch arms, a 500oz./in servo at 2" is only 250oz./in, at 4" is 125oz./in of torque.

Oooooo I'll have to look into these ones, online price seems good for what they have to offer. Thanks, I'll keep them in mind.
Just had to make me go look didn't you.... Those are some nice looking servos and close to the same specs as what I use, the only real difference was weight, might have to try them out sometime.

@acerc, that is not a measure of torque. Torque is a rotational movement, not a linear movement that a servo arm subjects a control surface to. You cannot test a servos output torque by hooking a servo arm to it and seeing how much force it can pull. If you tried this test with the 9380 (I personally already have) you'd find it would hold well in excess of its rated 472oz in of torque before something broke, usually the case where it mounts to your surface. This is due to the circuits ability to lock the motor in place.

The other interesting thing is when the 1270 was tested, we measured over 7 amps of current at full stall. You guys don't even want to know what the hbl380 did :face-palm:

Personally, after a certain MKS individual started issuing legal threats and literally told a few of my friends to go f themselves to their faces (with no real reason), I won't ever support, endorse, or recommend anyone use the product.
