Brought in some throw away steel from a renovation construction job. The strips are 6x48x3/4” very heavy steel and the plate is maybe 15x18 and 1” thick. Again, very heavy steel. No particular need for it, will just add it to my scrap metal collection. Probably 500 lbs total.

Back in the shop this weekend. The Pilot RC Yak recently had a landing gear issue (somewhat brought on by a pancake landing) but several screws from landing gear internal bracing were missing. I stripped the plane down, will send in the DA120 for cleaning, and exposed the internal bracing issue. Then I switched to my Portaband band saw project. Still more organizing work to do in the shop room.

Ok now that the Taylor Craft is done and ready for next season, a friend of mine is Into 40 size speed planes. He has several and all kinds. I have watched him fly a particular 40 size plane that is quick and has some very nice flying characteristics. I was thinking of scratch building one just to have fun with and just throw into the car as a second plane to take to the field.
do any of you guys fly this category of planes and do you have any recommendations.
