Weather was amazing this weekend. Should have been flying, but spent time outside painting. Finished the clip of the Super Timber wing tips. Span was 1.7m, now 1.6m!

Painted the wing fences, trimmed the navigation light lenses, now time to install the new bits.

Unrelated to models, a sign was finally painted which has been waiting in the shop for who knows how long. Now the only question is where to hang it.

Diversion finished for now. Don’t like the lenses for the nav lights so I’ll find another option, but at least it’s ready to fly again.

Time to get back to the Beaver!

So a while back a buddy of mine gave me his EF 104" Extra 260 after he had crashed it. It needed a motor box kit, cowl, canopy, and a right wing. Well all the parts showed up finally so its time to start the rebuild. The left wing needs minor repairs just to patch a couple of holes in the covering. First up though its time to do a motor box kit. First up was to carefully peel back the covering from around F1. Hopefully I'm able to stick it all back down and have it look like factory other than a couple small patches. Then I started cutting out all the busted parts. I probably have gone further back than needed (really could have just cut it flush with F1 and rebuilt from there with some extra bracing) but I decided to carry it all the way back to F2. Still a little more to cut out and then just clean up all the mating surfaces before fitting new parts in it.

Looks like you have a couple of days work ahead of you. Nice that you could get all the parts. Horizon hobby is useless as far as that goes, if it is 2 years old forget getting any parts or service

You did a great job removing F1, was it really necessary? It does look too bad after it was removed.
It wasn't truly necessary as F1 was only slightly busted at the top corner but if I had left it in there it would have taken so much longer to get the motor box sides removed all the way back to F2 as well as the bust motor box floor.

Little more work completed yesterday. F1 fitted as well as one piece of each side of the motor box. So now I just need to trim the side doublers as well then I can laminate the sides together as well as laminate F1 with its doubler as well. My hope is when its all back together the only place you will be able to see that it was repaired is this small joint just aft of F2 on the motor box sides.
