Here is the fuel flange for the Super Cub, I would image the J3 is about the same size. I would make it about 7/8" like the photo above.

I've had this honing steel since I was a teenager. It's sat unused in my hobbyroom for years. I was about to toss an exacto blade when it dawned on me to try my honing steel.
