It has been over a week since I painted the new canopy for the Behemoth yak. I figure the paint should be cured enough to handle so now would be a good time to finish the last expensive step in replacing the canopy. What insurance policy can you buy to ensure that you reinstall your canopy bolts after removing them? Spend nearly $250 for paint, covering, and the canopy. If that doesn't help you to remember, nothing will. I started replacing the covering on the front of the hatch this afternoon.
First a very gentle alcohol wipe down of the wood. Then a tack cloth to make sure that there are no remaining particles on the wood. After I was able to get the right curvature of the covering where it will lay over the lip of the canopy, I laid the covering down and sealed it into place.
I am very excited to have this done and have the Behemoth Yak ready to fly again. To me there is nothing quite like the sound of that 3W 212 CS 4 cylinder humming away.
Now it is on to the next project. I think I will take a few minutes this afternoon to clean up a little bit, then back on the velox build. Hopefully I can get back on the covering on the 330 soon. On a side note, I have decided to not build the Red Bull edge with the dle 55. I have decided I have enough aerobatic planes and I don't need another one so that plane and motor will be for sale if anyone is interested.
