You problem is that rubber mallot.... STEEL baby, caCLANG! :way_to_go: Working on stubborn car parts is quite a feat. One day I'll get smart and pay someone else... until then....:msn_slap: I shall curse, and curse I shall.

Rubber mallet was for other things, the spindle was hammered off with a 3lb sledge.

Had to do a repair to the bottom of the intake on my Jeep. Also did valve cover gaskets at the same time since I was already in there. Glad half of the valve cover bolts weren't finger tight :oblong:

Last thing to do now is fuel pump. I might just pick up a new airplane for Christmas so I don't have to work on a greasy engine :rolleyes:

Built a small on and off switch box that be mounted just under the top sheeting. It’s a magnet cover that will give me quick access to the switch and the charge wires. This will look a lot cleaner and also better than mounting it on the bottom which is a pain.

Took my DLG out to see how the new stab I installed performed. First overhand toss to just check cg and trim new stab and I fly into a pole not watching where I’m going. Decided to keep flying it and had a ball but had to repair it when I got home. Didn’t worry with fiberglassing over the repair since it’s a smaller plane and the damage didn’t make it to the spar or anything. Was actually a pretty easy repair but still mad I did it.

Got the main landing gear beam in and added some extra stiffeners in make sure it stays in place.. once the gear is in place the slots will be filled in and covered trying to hide all the ugly parts. Will be bending up some gear for the plane. Managed get some special stainless steel piano wire it looks great and will not rust, we will see how it works out.

Nice Plenum Plate. I did the same thing on my old 94' Dakota. Bought it from Hughes racing I think. Still blew the gasket. I no longer have that truck. I used the "Right Stuff" to seal it. It I were to do it again I would have used High Tack... That stuff is wicked good at sealing... almost permanent it's so good if you do it right. It's basically the same Chrysler engine in your jeep as my old dodge Dakota.

Nice Plenum Plate. I did the same thing on my old 94' Dakota. Bought it from Hughes racing I think. Still blew the gasket. I no longer have that truck. I used the "Right Stuff" to seal it. It I were to do it again I would have used High Tack... That stuff is wicked good at sealing... almost permanent it's so good if you do it right. It's basically the same Chrysler engine in your jeep as my old dodge Dakota.

Yep, Chrysler LA 5.2 Magnum. The repair kit came from Hughes, and they were very specific on how you assemble their components and they expressly stated that any deviations will cause failure. They were also very specific on not using any kind of RTV or sealer with their gasket and what I'm hearing from all of my Jeeping posse, if I did everything right this repair should last until the engine blows up :oblong::eek:

If it comes down to the gasket failing again, I'm just going to replace the entire keg with a Hughes FI Airgap, intake which eliminates the Plenum entirely, and a custom fuel map to match it.

Yeah... my billet plenum plate repair was about ten years ago. I also did what the dudes on the forums were recommending back then. HiTac was my second choice and should have been my first back then. I too thought about the whole new intake manifold but it was too $$.

High Tack will keep your gasket from getting brittle. Pretty cool stuff I think. You will have to literally tear and scrape your gasket off. Pretty good for something you don't want to ever change again.

Damn I'm hungry
Been busy restoring a 40" wood lathe for a dear friend. Had been rusting away in an open barn for over 25 years not to mention it is one from the "old" Sears and Roebuck catalog. I about :steamer: myself when I opened up the old 3/4 HP motor to have a barn spider the size of the palm of my hand crawl out!!!:eek:. Much less the wasp nests and bug nests that called it home. Really thought it was done for but it cleaned up well and the windings and bearings are in great shape. Nothing that elbow grease and oil could not fix. Runs like a champ now. I added on/off switch's and a light. Made the belt drive ratio easy to change by mounting the motor underneath the table and spring loading the motor mount. Also finally got a new table top made for my old 6 foot folding table.
