I didn't make it out to the workshop tonight. Had a flying club meeting @7:00. Didn't get home till well after 9:00.

Going to start assembling a couple Twisted Hobbies foamies soon.

So I got the motor mounted. In all my efforts I didn't get the firewall the way I wanted it but oh well. My buddy I got the plane from said it needed a little bit of down thrust. So I set it to have the right thrust it needed and the down thrust I thought it needed. Well when I line everything up with the cowl it has the right thrust dead nuts on but the down thrust is pretty much zero so I guess I will be adding a washer behind the top two stand offs. Needless I'm happy though. Now to open up the lower cowl a bit to fit around the motor and cut out an opening for the exhaust then I can wrap this baby up and get it ready for a maiden.

looking good Chris, looks very familiar actually! it looks like you're missing some braces across the top, probably 5/16" square balsa. do you have the plans to double check that? the construction of your 30% looks identical to my 35% and mine has more bracing across the fuselage than yours and it kinda looks like some of it was cut out. if not then nevermind!

He got the plane from me and that is how it was built when I got it (My covering scheme though). Do not have the plans but this plane has seen many flights.

Yeah it looks pretty much the same as when I got it minus a new firewall. It originally had oak 1/4 round trim as the tristock behind it but I have opted to use 1" wide 1/8" thick aluminum angle. It has been glued behind the firewall and will be getting drilled and bolted in tonight as well as hopefully getting the cowl trimmed to fit.

I have two to build some day. Most of the builds i looked at were tail heavy, but the 70 will take care of that. Fun plane!
