Glad you guys are enjoying it! All of my time until very recent has been with 40-60 size planes. I wouldn't have thought that moving up in size would make that much of a difference in overall experience with the hobby, but for some reason I'm enjoying the giant scale planes immensely. The process of building/modifying the Ultra Stick and now Timber 110 has been very rewarding. As my fellow Alaskan @AKNick knows well, they are much more enjoyable to fly in windy conditions and off rough surfaces.

For sure! The real estate to work with inside a larger airframe spoils you. It’s easier to modify and the planes seem more predictable the larger they are.

I’ve thought about designing my own sprung gear like Mike Patey did on his scrappy build. But I would like to have a tig welder for that. Not sure how I could silver solder tube gear that well. Either way I wish my gear legs were taller.

Thanks for sharing your work here. Super fun to see what you’re accomplishing.

All I have to say is thanks for sharing all your modifications.
You made the first one from UHMD and the second one from aluminum why.

I’m just experimenting with different materials to determine the best approach for function/appearance and ease of fabrication.

I use CAD quite a bit for projects, but sometimes you can't beat cardboard! I've also found an ipad with Apple Pencil to be very handy for snapping photos and drawing concepts directly on top of the photo. The entire nose/windshield will slide on and lock in place with magnets. It will be made primarily of light ply sides and bulkheads. The lower chin will provide cooling air for the ESCs. I'll also be building in a camera/gimbal hard point on the chin.
