Glad your having fun with them. I love my electrics and though I would go all electric or gas due to the cost and mess of glow fuel but then I had my first joy ride with a OS 55ax on a pipe and it gave me reason to continue to own glow.

Truth.....It is ALL good schtuff.....Gas, Glow, Electric, Large, Medium or Small. :).

I have a HUGE desire to! The EXP Edge has tickled me fancy. I have a slightly used YS DZ70 I was going to convert the EXP to glow with but these electric motors have such a wide power band and smooth as silk operation.
Besides, for clean up you just wipe off the used up electrons verses glow slime!:p

This is what gets to go flying this weekend. The QQ is structural wood structural foam. The Sbach has a wood "wing spar" that is slid in like a wing tube but the wood inside the fuse is for mounting only. It wont hold up like the QQ300 so any crash is going to be ugly. Lets hope not.

Just a tid bit more info on the functionality of this radio.......

Selectable RF..........Allows the use of any Turnigy receiver made. So again like Futaba. I'm starting to think Futaba let a design engineer escape their employment sort a like OS did several years back .

Got some pics showing model and motor run times along with voltage alert (set to 17vH 14.2vL). Fully charged 16.8V got 9800 rpm. I let it run several minutes at about 5500 rpm and gunned the throttle a few times and jogged it a few times to mimic hovering and pull outs. The UBEC voltage never dropped at all and constantly displayed 5.95v. Having lots a fun playing with this radio and its telemetry. Raining all day today and I hope Saturday will allow a test flight and more.

Last pic shows Lv alarm with over 14 minutes run time! Lots of burst power left in the pack! So 12 minute 3D flights should not be an issue with a 3850ma 130c 4cell lipo.

It may have been said already but does this radio have ball bearing gimbals? How do they feel compared to your 14sg?

Yes to both:rolleyes:. Just poking Chris. Ball bearings smooth as silk. Non ratcheting throttle (I like). Feels as good stick wise as the 14sg but more comfortable to hold because it weighs half as much. It is WAY better feel to me than the 10c I used to have.
I'm just throwing this out there........This would be an "Electric Persons" radio of choice I believe. Hi-tec probably is in the hands of a lot of eletctric flyers though and they offer current sensors to boot. The new Jetti systems offer more sensor options than any other radios but I think their market is giant scale and jets. Also earlier in the thread I mentioned No GPS sensors or support or altitude and air speed sensors. Going through the telemetry menu I did find ASL settings and Speed setting. Just no sensors available yet for these telemetry functions.

Maiden was successful and so were the subsequent flights. But lets talk radio first. The feel during take off and landing was spot on and the expo dialed in was appropriate for I set throws for maximum allowed by this planes geometry which is.....
Ail- 1.5" up dn. 60%expo
Ele- 3" up 2.75dn. 80% expo
Rud 4.25" LR 60% expo.
Radio responded lightning fast and maneuvers where start and stop per input commands. :concern: Plane is a bit heavy (5lbs) for its size but only affected the flight times (7 minutes) and hovering performance.( prop has a lot to do with that to. It is a 13.25x 7.25 progressive and has very poor efficiency with the motor used and weight of plane.) I did aggressive tumbles, pop tops, knife edge, Harriers, waterfalls, spins and the control was nothing less than right now. Flying the model out a ways control was still spot on positive. On maiden had trim needed on down elevator (+12% ) and Left Aileron (-20%) . Rudder was fine.

Todays test flights have given me a confidence and feel that I get with my 14 sg. Radio is GREAT:). Plane has weight and prop motor combo issues. The landing gear is very heavy and the battery is heavy. So a different prop (try a 15x7 wood) and lighter landing gear along with a lighter battery should make this plane hover better and longer. Plane hovered at 3/4 stick:(. But it tracked very well in the wind and is a solid flying plane with no bad habbits.

Not necessarily negative but as is with most touch screens out doors......I CAN'T SEE IT! Even in the shade. Guess I have to try the optional cover for the display. Pops up for a sun shade.
