VVRC 40cc Twin

Guys I finally got around to putting a set of Jtecs on my engine that Kevin sent me a week ago and boys, let me tell you, it gives that little engine a manly sound! [emoji1]It is an awesome addition to this engine as they have nearly twice the volume so they are quieter. More than just the noise level, it has changed the tone and it sounds much better. I highly recommend them.

Just a little tidbit I noticed on the starting of my engine. I had a heck of a time trying to get mine to pop on friday. I laid down and looked at the carb and noticed that the choke was not closed all the way. It gets really hard to push the last few millimeters. When I pushed a little harder on my choke rod it closed fully and fired right up. This may be what is happening to others. The butterfly is not touching anywhere, it is just tight on the shaft somehow.

Update.... I pounded the motor on another 6 flights today. It flies about 13 minutes of hard flying in the cub with a 16 oz tank. I have no problems starting it by hand with the "slap'' method others have mentioned. It hand flip starts cold after sitting a week. I have a little over a gallon through it and I must say I am really loving this motor the more it breaks in.

Once upon a time, there was this other forum and some guys said to slap the prop when you flip it. Hold your hand about 6 inches off the prop instead of starting your flip with your hand already on it. That sudden lunge of the prop must do something to the ignition. It is hard on the fingers if you are not wearing a glove but it works.

Coolies, might give that a go next time, it probably increases the speed the magnet passes the sensor which will help the timing of the ignition, guessing..

Thought I'd give an update on my vvrc. Had 3 good flights today. New fresh fuel redline oil 40 to 1. Reset the needles to 1.5 from closed ended up at just shy of 2 turns After a few tests on the ground. In the air flight was smooth and went well. Idle up switch helped allot

The choke issue on mine was the most detrimental to quick starting. It is really tight at the almost closed position. Making sure that I pull a little harder really seals it and it starts super easy. I am not sure if the rest of the carbs have the same characteristic or not but it sure explained my hard starting even after a flight. Now that I have that figured out, I really like this engine. I am glad yours is working good Lojik.

I am very interested in the PAU Edge 540T 30-35cc. My first thoughts was to install the VVRC 40 twin. Would this be a killer performer for that plane and would it fit in the cowl? If Supa Tim is here I would love your response along with all other replies.
