Steve had ask a while back if lights were in the plans, at the time I said no but started to rethink, might be nice, looking for red and green panel
mount globes, I found the ones below at Radio Shack years ago, they were perfect size for 1/3 scale Super Cub. Can't find them today however, still looking
Let me know if you do.

I always find those details can slow down a build. You can always run the wires and hot glue them in place for a later date. Strobes and navs always put a nice scale touch to a build. The nice thing about navs is you can run them all the time/independently and switch them off if you're not in the mood.

Agreed, the wires will be added and I found a couple possible globes today, they are 12 mm in diameter and appear to be about the right size. I ordered them so we shall see. Should have ordered two red ones but wasn't thinking, will use a 10mm white LED for the tail marker light.

The left wing tip is about ready for glass so the wings are coming along, cut the flap free on the right wing.

Excellent! For future reference, I really like this company for sourcing LED's

Pre-bent 1/8" balsa around an 1 1/2" pipe for the flap trailing edge. The stub ribs and sheeting were sanded to fit the pre-bent sheet. The flap leading edge will be 1/4" balsa sheet then sanded to close to an airfoil shape. Will make the wing side flap hinges (shown below) out of 1/8" g10 sheet and the flap side will have two vertical leaf sections made from 3/32" G10 sheet. Decided to make fairings to cover the hinges as shown. These are aftermarket and claimed to increase the speed of the full scale by 2 knots, I'm using them to cover the sins. The plans show the flaps as simply bevel cut and sheeted so this is a minor deviation from the plans.

Was out of town since last week so not much to report, finishing the right wing flap leading edge and started hinging. The red and green lenses arrived and started making a plug for the wing tip lights. Nothing fancy, copying a Whelen light. Will make a mold and lay up two tear drop shaped covers. The paint can was marker silver metallic with a chrome lid, looks really good when wet but dulls as it dries. The panel lamps are 24 volt so the guts are removed for a T10 1/2 watt LED.

Worked on the flap hinges and aileron linkage today. The hinges were cut on the mill, oversized blanks were cut and drilled in a stack, a 1/8" rod held them in place while the machining operations were carried out. These will get glued in after the wings are treated with Monkote. The aileron linkage is hidden much like the full scale. The mold is finished for the position lights, may lay a tear drop up after the parting film dries. Now just have to do the same on the left wing, should be easier since the work plan is completed. Can't wait to get the foam jig off the bench, it has me in a funk, maybe another week. Work to do, install right wing flap servo and linkage and wire wing, epoxy in the wing tube, finish the sheeting and the right wing will be completed. The left wing has the the wing tip built, needs installed, cut the ailerons and flaps free and catch up to the right wing.

You may be able to buff the paint to get it shiny, or use a clear coat over it, I have also seen the covers painted to match a specific color scheme. Either way, good work!!!
