Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I worked on the throttle linkage the other night. I fairly happy with how it worked out. I still need to take the engine back out so I haven't added the lock nut at the carb end.

Saturday night I built a removable battery tray behind the firewall. I'm quite sure this thing is going to need the nose weight. After I got it done I decided that my round hole in the firewall behind the carb needed some reengineering. All the DA50's I've had mounted like this always spray a little fuel through the hole and into the engine box. I don't want that mess on my batteries so I'm building a box to go over the hole. I'll get some pics of that soon.

The straps holding the batteries are just temporary.

I ended up enlarging the hole I had in the firewall by dropping it down and squaring off the bottom edge. Then I made a box out of 1/32" ply, fuel proofed it and glue it on. I also put an angle on the bottom of the hole in the firewall so anything that collects in the box will drain out.

Here's another way to eliminate the spitting in the box. It's a piece of PVC pipe. I used a scope extension ring to secure the screen on top. Not really needed tho. Pics will tell the tale.

That is realy nicely done hope to copy that in the near future. It will not work on the plane I am presently working on but soon. Thanks for that idea.
Can you explain your throttle servo arm it does not look right ? Is there two one on top of the other.

Hah...yeah, at the time I needed a longer arm and didn't have one handy so bolted the longer one (that wasn't the correct spline size) to the smaller star-shaped one.

Today I painted the gear legs and the louvers that cover the access hole for the gear bolts.
I considered rounding the edges of the gear but decided against it, so I just smoothed everything out and then sprayed a coat of self-etch primer then basecoat black and then clear.
