3D Rebuilding the Compy MX2.

The only problem I had with the 170 was the headers. The plane was designed for a 100 cc sized motor, so there's not a ton of room in the bottom of the cowl for the header drop that the 170 needs. The cylinder that was closer to the prop made the header touch the fiberglass right where it starts to turn towards the back of the plane. I had to heat the pipe up with a torch and beat the schidt out of it, essentially flattening the curve out just a little bit so it would clear the fuse. The canisters also needed a shoe horn to get them installed ahead of the wing tube, but once it all got in there, it performed very well.

Oh yeah. I put TD 110K's in my buddies DA150/MX2 combo. Had to shoehorn the hell out of them! I think one of my threads on FG has me building that MX2 with the DA150/MX2. The other one I flew in that same thread, has the 3W 170 on it! Then I flew another one last year on a DA150..... :(

Didnt get as much done tonite as I thought I would..... Lower back was starting to ache.

But I did manage to get the wheel pants mounted and the old studs and blind nuts out of the old fuse.

I checked the paint lines as well for the cowl. Cant believe how they match up for being not painted together. The cowl, wheel pants and canopy came first. Then 2-3 months later, came the fuse and hatch.

Pics coming soon. Motor is mounted. Working on ignition and an opening for the throttle pushrod. May work on getting the rudder mounted as well. Need to get to the hobby shop to pick up a little bit of wood for making the fuel tank tray and throttle servo mount.

Like I said before, got the engine mounted. 4 holes in the firewall, 4 6mm blind nuts (removed from the previous MX2), some washers for thrust line, ignition mounted/routed, rudder pocket hinges glued up and rudder mounted.
